After much consideration over buying a new PC I decided to by a recon. Only problem was that I couldn’t find one with sufficient storage (I have over 500Gb photos & 1.5Tb music files) but I knew I needed one with an SSD for faster start up and at least 8Gb RAM. So this was it, I bought this and an external 4Tb HDD. Initially on set up I let the machine do it’s usual Windows update, sadly this led to multiple freezes so I did a reset and allowed Windows to reinstall. Everything worked fine from therein on. I would advise installing Dell Support Assistant which will check everything is functioning OK & automatically update any drivers.

UPDATE 2: A full month after asking for a refund, the company now sent two replacement RAM sticks after I had to manually test each stick to find the problem sticks myself. Of the two sent sticks, one works and the other is completely dead. They don’t even test the damn replacements….. They promised yet another replacement stick two weeks ago and haven’t actually sent one now. I think they have just given up. I also just noticed it advertised a usb WiFi stick…. It never came with one either, hence why you can see my own pci card stuck out on the images. I’m going to factory reset it today and send it back, even if I have to pay postage because these guys shouldn’t benefit from selling this crap.
UPDATE: A few months in now and it seems one of the RAM sticks is faulty. Every few days I’ll get a blue screen due to it. Definitely can’t recommend. As of today 31/10/2020, I’m sending it back because of the faults… And amazon is saying I have to pay for the return fee. Avoid at all…

I bought this to do three things for me. Firstly, running fairly resource-heavy photo editing software. Secondly, storing and playing a large(ish) music library of over 35K tracks and finally accessing the web. Of course, most of the time I’d be wanting to do at least two of these at the same time. My experience so far has been that the machine copes really well. It’s easily powerful and fast enough for my 3 requirements. I used to get music stutter on my other PC when I was trying to edit photos and listen to music at the same time. This PC handles both with ease.
It boots up quickly because of the SSD and so far has handled everything I’ve thrown at it. I am not going to be using it for gaming so I can’t comment on how well it performs in that regard. A point to note is that it only has VGA connectors – no HDMI or DVI so it might be best to check your monitor and see whether you also need to buy an adapter.

The computer came with Windows 10 already installed and initially set up. That meant I had to go back and change some of the initial settings for my home network. In some ways it would have been easier to have to run through the initial setup myself. Some installed software kept reappearing even when deleted. Included WiFi dongle failed completely after several weeks, but it wasn’t a particularly powerful and I needed a stronger receiver for the location. On the other hand, the computer has several display port and USB connections. The system itself is stable, and having the SSD drive for startup saves a tremendous amount of time on startup or restart. Except for the few issues noted, this is a very good refurbished machine.

I bought this machine to replace a 10-year old HP PC running Windows 7Pro – it was finally time to upgrade to Windows 10.
It looked very impressive out of the box, you’d be hard pressed to tell it wasn’t brand new. Set-up went very well and after going through the usual processes of updating Windows 10 / installing my software etc (mainly Office 365 etc), all is running well.
The SSD hard drive is the first one I’ve ever had and it is much quicker than anything I’ve used before. This machine boots up and runs much more quickly than its predecessor.
I paid ยฃ250 for my old computer and it lasted me 6 years. This one is even better value a7 ยฃ178.95 – the first few days look very promising!
I use my machine for mainly office stuff / email / browsing – no gaming etc – but this looks like it will be more than good enough for my purposes.

This is a very neat and compact machine, about a quarter of the size desktops tradionally were. I can also be stood on edge or layed flat so easy to fit in almost anywhere.
The spec on this version, with a big SSD, makes it very fast both for loading and running programmes. Lots of connectivity – 8 USB slots, plus all the usuals
Very quiet in operation, can hardly hear the fan at all, but no sign of overheating problems.
Early days yet, but this is definately looking like one I will be keeping for a while.
