This honestly tastes horrible. I didnโt know what to expect but the taste really is grim. I will try reducing the quantity in my next shake but will do my research next time.ย I couldn’t even finish the smoothie I added it too and it is now all I can taste in my mouth. ยฃ20 down the toilet to be honest. I will try to find some way to consume it because I canโt afford to waste money like this โ really gutted that it tastes so awful. Look elsewhere โย on reflection I wish I had opted for an unsweetened one such as Super U Lean Protein โ it is more expensive but I feel the synthetic/cardboard flavouring of this one has ruined it for me. So, so bitterly disappointed.

Bought this for a son who hardly eats anything and refuses meals, to sneak into the odd smoothie. Sadly it tastes revolting even when disguised with banana, honey, yoghurt etc. No chance of getting him to consume it in quantity – even the odd teaspoonful is discernable in a large glass of smoothie. Hey ho – maybe you won’t be so fussy.

Love this. So good to know itโs plant based. I am trying as much as possible to eat plant based and these are a great substitute to whey. I have the chocolate and the vanilla flavours. Iโve been using the vanilla in my plant based pancakes (bosh recipe) which is delicious. Iโve so far just mixed up the chocolate with 300ml of water and it tastes really good and creamy. You donโt get that dry aftertaste you get with other pea protein powders. I will definitely stick to this brand.

Okay so to begin, a little about me, I’m not vegan, I do enjoy some plant based products but I do eat meat, I’ve tried different brands of whey protein in the past and there were some nice ones and some horrible ones that made me want to vomit, I feel like my review might be the most honest as I am not vegan but I am transitioning and this is the first time I’ve ever tried a plant based alternative to protein powder, with that I shall get into my review.
I think the best way to rate this would be 0 = Horrible and 10 = Delicious
Smell: the smell is not appealing, then again I’ve never found a protein powder that could appeal to my nose.
My Rating: 5 – it honestly isn’t bad but not good either.
Taste: I measured exactly 36g of “Optimum Nutrition ON Gold Standard” and 300ml of cold water, then mixed it in my ninja blender for 20 seconds (this is all based on the instruction).
The taste while not appealing, isn’t as bad as many of the reviews lead me to believe, don’t mistake this for one…

Got this as a top-up for my usual subscription of Form Superblend powder. Only been using it for a few days so certainly can’t comment on any results from using the product. Any vegan powder will be less creamy than whey but I found this powdery texture particularly unpleasant in comparison to Form and the taste is one I can live with rather than enjoy. It also comes in a great big plastic tub and contains the unforgivable plastic scoop inside, possibly the most unnecessary piece of plastic I have in my house now – I have spoons! Not a purchase I’ll be repeating any time soon, sorry.

Let me start by saying that I have a sweet tooth. I hate coffee, but love coffee cake, presumably because there is 2oz sugar to every teaspoon of coffee. That being said, this poison is far far far too sweet. It is overpowering and obnoxious. I can’t believe I’ve got to go through this torture another 18 times if I want to get my money’s worth.
I had to add coffee to this to make it possible to finish the drink. Even then, I had to hold my nose whilst I drank to block out the sickeningly sweet smell. There was nothing that I could do to improve the texture, I just had to try not to gag on it.
I will definitely not be buying this again.

Iโm not vegan and never will be. The thought of it makes me want to eat steak… The reason I brought this was due to being diagnosed with Crohnโs disease last year. Having had a bit of time out from the gym and then starting to come back into it again, having whey protein queued the return of the brown rain and left me feeling horrendous for a couple of weeks! Thought Iโd give this stuff a chance and so far so good. It tastes nothing like the old whey protein flavours- imagine someone deficated in it and youโll be getting close to the taste of this. Thatโs why It doesnt get the full 5* treatment from me. Other than that, itโs half decent!

Don’t really understand a lot of the “tastes bad” reviews, can only assume they’re fake ones made by other competitors ๐
If you’ve gone through several different Vegan protein powder products like I have over the years you’d soon realise the ON flavours are FANTASTIC in comparison, almost…….almost enjoyable to consume. It’s not gritty but will settle at the bottom of a shaker if you leave it for more than 5-10 minutes, doesn’t give you an upset stomach (can’t emphasise this enough!) and doesn’t make you feel bloated/sick like some of the others do.
All around it’s become by go to protein, on repeat order. I just wish they did bigger tubs as the plastic waste (1 every 2 weeks) seems criminal.
