I’m really disappointed that such a popular product, that’s had years to mature and have the bugs ironed out and should be a slick and polished after, still feels like a beta product. I have a few dots and they work ok most of the time, but after a couple of days with this I kind of wish I had not bothered. Main issues so far are:

    1) The ‘auto framing’ and presence sensors don’t work. It does even show up in the smart home menu when you go to create a routine. Many people are reporting this. To make the worse, the dedicated Amazon Alexa helpline agent I spoke to did not even know these major new features existed.

    2) The voice pickup is much worse than our dots. Now I almost have to shout at this, or be staying right next to it. Even then you have to speak loudly and clearly, with a longer pause after saying ‘Alexa’. It’s because quite a painful and frustrating experience. I thought it would get better with newer models, not worse.

3)The sound is good, but not amazing. For its size it…

Fine as an Alexa device, works just as well (or badly ?) as my 3 Dot’s.
But the display offers far less than I hoped.
Worst is the incredibly limited amount of customisation allowed. It does what it wants, NOT what I want it to do.
Video calling to another similar unit may well be good – but of no use to me and I guess most other UK purchasers.
    Works well with Ring doorbell.

Someone has written that they were unhappy that Amazon reduced the price as a special a couple of weeks after the release of the 2nd generation version.
I bought one on release for I think for £128 but when I saw it on offer I returned the original and got one for £85. The £85 one also seems to have far more features than the original. I love the menus. Does anyone know how to transfer my shopping list from Alexa to Morrisons shop please

I upgraded my Amazon echo and received a box. Nothing else. Utterly rubbish. Don’t bother upgrading. Lousy updates, overpriced and no information. Talk about a cash cow? I feel violated.

My first intention was to use this Echo Show device in the kitchen for recipes and also weather and radio, I am still experimenting with it, so far I am pleased with what it can do.

Loved my echo 5, love the 8 even more and bought the stand to go with it, just wish it could move around with the stand, love using the camera to look at my rooms with it, but it either needs to be able to swivel around or be set up high to use the camera function properly

I use this produt as a bedside alarm & to monitor my security cameras which it links to with Alexa Skills.
The clock face which dims at night goes into the bottom left corner ,would be nice central !
The Speaker is a little boomy but can be adjusted via built in equaliser, plenty of volume available.
There is no built in USB PORT for charging other devices which is a nuisance, had to put in a wall socket with usb to get around this!

I have had the echo show 5 for quite some time now and love it, I had a debate with myself as to whether I could justify spending over £200 on the echo10 when it was released. I decided not to and glad I waited until this was released, all set up in no time as it was linked to my other echos I have, one in every room. I use it primarily for the music, but also the weather, news headlines and reminders, also to use the drop-in feature if I am away from home. All in all a great bit of kit, and I am so pleased I made the purchase, it is surprising how much bigger the whole thing looks against the 5” screen. My 5” show is now in my sewing room. Would highly recommend this if like me you feel the echo show 10 is a step too far.

Update 21/6/2021 I still love my echo show 8 (2021) but feel gutted, to say the least, that 12 days after release date that this has £35 knocked off it for Prime day. This is the second time I have ordered something on pre-launch and it has been reduced…
