This Asus ZenBook UM425i is excellent for the price. It’s compact, light weight, powerful, very good battery life, and has a all metal body.
It’s actually more powerful than my 15′ 2016 MacBook Pro that has an i7 quad core Intel processor.
I went with the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U series version. At the time of buying it was £100 less than the four core i5 Intel version, and the AMD is slightly higher spec. It’s a six core processor with turbo boost to 4.0 GHz and a average CPU Pass Mark of 11221. It’s a monster for something so compact. People moan about fans being noisy. It’s a very compact laptop, which very powerful processor, it will get hot when doing demanding tasks. When the fans kick in, It’s sound is no different to any other computer I’ve had in the past.
The 2 x USB-C ports are useful, as most things are now. There is also a full size USB3 and HDMI 2.0b port.
The only thing missing is a headphone jack (which everybody goes on about), it would have been useful, but works perfectly…

Good all round ultra book. No audio jack is a little bit weird and fan can be noisy at times but overall it is a good piece of kit for the price. The Amazon Norton discount offer is a bit of a red herring as you cannot redeem it due to “geographical restrictions”. Pretty poor on their part.

I’ve been using this laptop for several days now and I have absolutely no complaints about it.
What really irritated me, though, was the absence of three accessories from the box: the USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter, USB-C to ethernet cable adapter, and a laptop sleeve. The 3.5mm headphone jack adapter is particularly important because the laptop lacks a 3.5mm jack; without the adapter, you have to get bluetooth headphones, because your old headphones/earphones will be useless. The ASUS website says that these three accessories for the Zenbook UM425 are “optional” but there seems to be no way to know if they will be included in the box or not when ordering from Amazon. I contacted the Asus customer service to ask how you can know if optional accessories are included or not with the laptop and said to them, “surely it isn’t just random?” The reply I received said this:

‘From the manufacturer’ states explicitly that the laptop uses and 11th generation Intel chip. This model does not, it’s only a 10th generation chip and nowhere near as good. This is not a minor quibble or small detail, it is a major deceit!

The shipment was fast and the packaging was fine. My first impression of the computer was not so good because I thought I should return it due to the loud fan noise. The battery got too hot too soon as well. Then I read online that it could be because of the windows updates. I also realized through MyAsus you can change the fan mode to `whisper` which is really silent. in the end, with this price this is a pretty good PC and I’ll keep it. It has only been a week but so far so good with editing (adobe premiere pro) and gaming (the sims 3) haha.

I love my ZenBook for its lightweight and versatility. The backlit keyboard is amazing and one can turn it off when not need by a function key. The charger is a simple C-type which is also working as a fast charger for my Samsung Phone! The battery life is amazing with a built in auto-battery saver mode. I’m loving it!
