Mr. E. Blake –
Excellent laptop.
Things I like – in no particular order
1. The display is the best I have ever seen on a lpatop
2. Backlit keyboard is very useful when the lights go down so the Mrs can fall asleep on the sofa.
3. The secondary screen on the touchpad is fabulous, I can keep an eye on the football or WhatsApp without taking up space on the main display.
4. Speed of boot and shutdown
5. Build quality
6. The colour
What I don’t like
1. Wish it has a larger HD option
2. To keep the overall size down the number pad is a bit squeezed.
Would I recommend – hell yes.

Although specs strong, it is not working as it should be. There is a continuous disturbing fan sound problem even with the simple Microsoft Edge web surfing. This seems a problem all along Asus Zenbook. Also heats up easily.
I have lost several hours surfing thru blogs and forums. Asus must definitely make some driver updates.! This model doesnot working well with Win 10!

I need to have Microsoft Word and PowerPoint open at the same time as using the Internet and Skype. This laptop copes with me flitting between the programmes well.
The touch screen is very sensitive and I really like the laptop. I would recommend it.
The Asus stylus pens do not work with the Touchscreen and I rang Asus up and they told me that none of their stylus pens work with this device and they suggested that I try a generic brand. I found this stylus pen does work and the little disk at the end of it is fine and doesn’t get in the way like I thought it would.

Brilliant laptop, it was worth it paying a little more for this laptop. Great performance, the MX450 performs quite well, playing Age of Empires 2 DE and Simcity at full graphics. If you don’t like the smartpad you can just change it to default to standard trackpad, but I find it quite useful when using Bluetooth mouse, I’ve assigned URL shortcuts on it to make working much faster.

Superb engineering and component selection, keyboard is a pleasure to use, and the vast choice of options to use in/on the fabulous screenpad 2 is just even more impressive. Asus are world leaders, innovators and high quality premium laptop makers, this is the second Zenbook i purchased, the other UX303UA now 7 years old and still as good as day 1, i also have a ROG G750 also about 5 years old, plus a surface book 2. This asus sits wit the very best laptops. Webcam and sound is super quality, great for home working, secure and safe. No bloatware, just set up the brilliant windows 10 and away you go. Boot time (off to desktop including authentication) is 4 seconds, shutdown (Desktop to full power down) is a decent 11.5 seconds. Battery life seems to last upwards of 8 hours comfortably between charges, that’s with WIFI, screenpad, screen at minimum of 65% brightness and a USB wireless mouse in use too. Highly recommended, only downside is the laptop does attract finger prints, but…

Nothing to dislike about this laptop. Touch screen and high resolution is important to me and this laptop is great clarity and brightness. It’s also basically silent. I’m sure there’s a fan in there but I never hear it. I had contemplated a Macbook Air but this display ( and having mult-touch ) makes it so much better for my needs. Plus it comes with 16Gb of RAM ( not expandable ) and 1Tb NVMe ( can be upgraded ).
Also the screen ratio is better than any other laptop I’ve seen. It’s 3:2, so less rectangular than most laptops with much less wasted screen space when browsing. Also, it’s so sharp that I can use it without my reading glasses.
Battery life is good enough that, with ad hoc use, I charge it maybe every two or three days.
Overall this is one of the best Ultrabooks I’ve bought and if I lost/broke it, I’d buy the exact same laptop again even though there is the new Macbook Air M1 which doesn’t have anywhere near as good a screen as the Asus.

I was having second thoughts whether to purchase a laptop now or wait till next year. Asus laptops on the market next year are definitely promising. All of them will be running on the new Tiger Lake processor, which is much faster and so, if performance is very important for you, maybe you should wait on. However, from the new 16 laptop models that Asus is launching next year, only one will have the screenpad function, which I tried and I’m already attached to.
Since I’m writing this review, it means that I didn’t wait. I bought it at 1,100 GBP including shipment, which I considered a decent price to pay. After testing it for a month, I have to say this is the fastest laptop I ever worked on. It opens in about 5 seconds. I can run 9-10 apps simultaneously, without feeling any lag. Games might be different. I don’t play anything anymore, but the mx350 video card is not spectacular. It might work for light games, but not the hard core demanding ones.
I personally love this unit and…
