My first thought when I held this in my hands was disbelief. How could something so lightweight cost so much money 🙂 would it really bring any value?
That foreshadowing melted when I began to get accustomed to the ‘new layout’, which actually works amazingly well. Due to the compact form I found it easy to reach all the keys and touch pad without much wasteful movement. The left mouse key is slightly close to the right arrow key, but these keys gotta go somewhere.
Screens are beautiful. Sound of fans when running full is noticeable but most of the time they are not much above a whisper. The speakers give plenty of good quality audio to cover any fan sounds.
Having the keyboard closer makes typing feel more like it would on smartphone and not needing to reach around a central mouse pad reduces the effort of that constant avoidance.
It is fast. I plugged into wired network via a USB-C hub which had the LAN port and was very happy with speeds of download, and then when it came to install…

It’s brilliant, read the reviews watch the videos for both work and play.
Quality materials, for case and engineering including the stick on angle devise, although thinking this is so useful it should be built in.
Standard set up of connections, chip, ram, SSD creates a stable fast environment suitable for almost any task. HDMI has been a real bonus, even in this world of multiple adaptors.
Working it is an instant multi tasking tool, literally I have upped my work rate, ongoing main tasks while secondary screen for support, ie email, project management, messages, calendar etc.
Playing, main screen films, games etc and secondary is music, messaging, emails, whatever you are into.
Or combine working on one, music and messaging on the other, the choice and work rate is yours.
The above does count specialist applications where ASUS combines its own digital control interfaces and the work space for specific specialist software ie photoshop etc. The only problem for me, which needs to be…

    Arrived within 48 hours.
    Perfectly packaged.
Great looking – but finger print magnet.
    Displays are amazing
Speed is more than enough for what I use it for
With both screens on and web browsing – the battery lasted 5 hours.
Pouch case and pen are nice touches.

I have a portable battery with PD output at 60W and it charges the laptop without any issue.
Also purchased for a few quid on eBay a key to upgrade Win10 Home to Pro.
Will purchase the offered upgraded Warranty extension for £89.00.

    Overall very very happy

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: Asus said to return it as they suspect it is actually REFURBED, 2nd hand being sold as new. This is so bad. Illegal most probably. I shall be investigating this further. But DO NOT BUY THIS. Somehting dodgy is going on.

The core functions of the laptop seem as described. BUT there are a few quality control issues that I don’t think are acceptable:

    1) There is an interference, static type constant buzz whenever the trackpad is used to move the cursor, so very often. Starts and stops exact in tandem with trackpad use. Very strange. Only quiet, but audible, which I am not really prepared to accept for a 3k piece of high end equipment.
    2) the default desktop is the AERO backdrop which isn’t a massive deal in and of itself, but makes me think this is either a reconditioned aero screen put into a possibly reconditioned machine, or else points towards generally slack QC.
    3) there is a wodge of glue at the bottom left hand corner of the outer screen rim, again,…

This machine had such great potential.. I bought 2! One of them had a faulty screen, the other a faulty keyboard. Amazing concept badly executed in my experience.
