I bought this because I’d been using a laptop which gave very good Bluetooth coverage, but after switching to a laptop by a different manufacturer, the Bluetooth became very sketchy.
You need to download and install a driver for the DG45, and it’s Windows only. When so many devices are simple plug-and-play, this driver requirement may be a bit of a disincentive for some users.
I didn’t see any useful improvement, but that may be because my headphones etc aren’t Bluetooth 5 and so may not be able to make use of the enhanced features claimed for this device.
I returned it and bought instead the DG60 which has solved all my problems, though at a somewhat higher price. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Avantree-Bluetooth-Superior-Wireless-Headphones-Black/dp/B0881X4MB2

Wasn’t working even though windows was saying all bluetooth drivers are fine. Searched Avantree DG45 drivers and their site has everything you need. Installed that and now works perfect ๐

After reading the reviews on this and other bt adaptors I was a bit worried.
So far it has worked fine (once! with my xbox controller) and I assume it is because of my setup being within the “norm”.
Windows 10 64bit
no onboard bt
old bt adaptor removed and its driver, then a reboot
connected this new bt adaptor and waited for hardware to find it.
then paired my controller – no issues.
played a game for ~20 mins – no dropouts etc.
I hope this helps others

I purchased this product hoping to wirelessly connect a Bluetooth headset to work PC with no Bluetooth for online conference. It paired up ok but I only realize then that the dongle needed to be positioned where there were minimum interference. It was first plugged in directly to the PC under the desk and gave bad noise / glitch when I spoke to mic. When I re-plugged to the USB on the monitor on the desk, the sound got better, but the noise didn’t go away completely. At the end I decided to return it and went for the wireless headset with custom dongle which worked perfectly. The quality of the product is not the issue here though. I just didn’t know about Bluetooth well enough.

Following the included instructions – in good plain English – setup on a Win 10 desktop lacking ‘native’ Bluetooth – could scarcely have been more straightforward. The device then communicated well with a wireless speaker in the same room – but no further! Hopes of transmitting from the PC around the corner to the next room dashed! ‘Up to 10m/33 feet operating range’ as claimed on the pack appears a highly optimistic estimate! Defeated beyond 3-4 metres line-of-sight in my experience. Recommendable however if that’s the limit of your requirements.

Used the Avantree DG45 to replace my PC’s built-in Intel Bluetooth device. Was getting annoying dropouts in the audio when using my Sony WH-1000 XM3 bluetooth headphones, and none of the general recommended fixes worked. I knew it wasn’t the headphones because they worked perfectly with my Android phone. This device uses a Realtek BT 5.0 spec chip and you download specific drivers from the Avantree support link provided in the install guide. If like me you have a built-in BT device in your PC, you must disable it in Device Manager first, then install the new drivers. Following a reboot I’m now getting flawless high quality BT audio.

This was one of the slighly more expensive BT adaptors , and i think well worth the extra ยฃ5. At least Avantree have a decent website. It did not install the first time, yes i followed the install the drivers first process but i had an error saying there was no BT adaptor. Then i tried the plug the USB device in first and then the drivers did install. Initially i had the same old issue of the BT drivers not surviving a reboot. Then after a driver update all worked really well, and the drivers now initialise properly after reboots and PC power ups. I was expecting all of this to be hoenst and am really happy with it. As BT adaptors are these days at this “cheap as chips” pricepoint it is great value. Conected to an XBOX headset, Logi Ergo mouse, and Xbox controller on a windows 10 PC with no issues. I have never been able top connect to the Wacom Intuous Pro tablet, but then BT on them always unreliable for me at least. It worked once for my wacom and after a reboot never…

I’ve been through two other bluetooth controllers, from MPOW and iMU without a great deal of success trying to provide a reliable and consistent bluetooth transmitter for my PC.
Finally, I researched ‘recommended’ bt controllers and came across the Avantree brand which consistently gets best buy.
Firstly, this is the only controller so far which actually installs a bluetooth icon in the system tray, so you can access the functionality. Secondly, it is the only one which has allowed to interrupt and resume transmission of audio to more than one device without reconnection issues.
The reason this is important to me is that I wear Phonak Audeo Paradise hearing aids which are bt connectable. So far, interraction with this Aventree controller has been without interruption, dropouts or any of the other problems. Even if my smartphone intervenes with a call while I am watching a film on my PC, after I finish the call the Aventree reconnects to my hearing aids with no problem.
Very highly…
