Moved 2 of our dogs onto the Senior food recently from the Active Dog variety, whilst our youngest dog has just been moved from the Puppy food to Active Dog – all are happy, healthy, in great condition and the two older dogs are not overweight. Regular exercise is obviously most important in controlling weight but I also believe that in part this down to Purina BETA not being full of wheat/gluten etc to bulk it out.

i bought this as the breeder was feeding this to our puppy. we found that she was always starving and not making it through to the next feed. our vet said that this is middle of the range food but other websites rate it as bottom quality (0.5 out of 5). since changing food to another brand, our dog is not sitting by her bowl an hr before feeding waiting for food. we can not recommend this product.

Having a large dog means having to buy large amounts of food.
So it’s handy for me that I can buy it in 14kg bags and have it delivered to my door, especially when the price is reasonable.
Being an all in one is also important for me as my dog has several digestive issues and let’s just say that a large dog with an upset stomach is never a fun thing to have to deal with at 3:30am.
Luckily dry food seems to keep him settled and since this is a full meal I don’t need to worry that he’s missing out on vital things.
I occasionally mix it with meat, if he’s having a good day, however it’s a safe go to for knowing I can leave this down for him and let him eat it at his leisure without it going off or turning rancid in warm weather.
Due to the size of them they are aimed at large breeds as smaller ones may struggle with these. They are probably in the region of a 10 pence piece.
This is also a plus for me because they are large flat biscuits, when I step on them in the dark with bare feet, it’s…

My dogs love this stuff, they’re currently 6 and 10 years old and both do well on this food. It’s great for their digestion and the 10 year old does really well on a reduced amount as she gets better nutrition on the lesser amount than needing more of a cheaper brand, considering she’s not overly active. I have to give my 6 year old boxer a little more as she is a bit more lively. But this food works well for both dogs and I buy it on Subscribe and Save which makes it cheaper.

I didn’t expect this. Today I open the box and!!! Someone just opened before me. It’s cut by scissors. Inside it’s a different food. When I bought this for the first time everything was great. But not now:( I’m disappointed. Now I have no guarantee that the product is fresh

Breeder had started my girl on this food so as not to upset her stomach I continued. I was planning to introduce Royal Cannin and swap as I’ve only ever trusted it before with my other dogs. However my girl likes this, she likes a little high quality meat mixed (just enough to coat kibble) she appears to be doing well on it, good stools, not gassey, coat and eyes look good and not hyper as not a ton of additives. Good priced decent food. Half the price of my favoured puppy food. I have actually put my fat lab on the light adult beta food too! Photo attached of Elsie the basset puppy ❤️

I continued using this food when I bought a Lab puppy and been really happy with it. I’ve used many foods for several different breeds over the years and none are better. Some really expensive ones recommended by vets or breeders are very definitely poorer feeds.
To be fair I’ve tried some cheaper options before and the shortcomings have been clear but I’m really happy with this puppy food and will put him onto the adult or working feed when he’s a bit older.
Very good coat, eyes, nose etc. Alert, happy, energetic, gut working well, correct stools. Nothing at all to criticise. His breath stinks a bit but they all do to varying degrees so I don’t know if it’s his food and I’m not going to try changing it just to see if a dog’s breath can be made pleasant!
Recommended Beta to my sister with two adult long dogs, she changed from James Wellbeloved and finds it better in every way, no gut reaction to the change either.

We have been feeding our dog the puppy version of this since he was a puppy and he had been getting on fine with it. As he is now old enough I decided to swap him to the adult version. Unfortunately, I am not as happy with this as I was with the puppy version. Firstly, the biscuit size is significantly bigger than the puppy food – while I would expect a small increase in size I was very surprised at just how big these biscuits are to his old mix. Secondly, he really doesn’t seem to be enjoying it as much as the puppy version. He often leaves around half his food til later rather than eating it all in one sitting as he used to. Given this is the same brand/variety as we had previously been feeding with the only difference being the switch from ‘puppy’ to ‘adult’ version, I expected the switch to be fairly smooth. Looks like we will have to switch to another brand.
