Hello my name is John. I’m responsible for looking after a rabbit called Percy. In 2018 I did some YouTube videos which involved showing how I maintain Percy. These videos outlined my daily regime which involve cleaning out the bottom part of his cage and weekly maintenance by using killrock Big K descaler on the limescale where he urinates. I also did a short video on his food and in particular what he should have and shouldn’t what I consider good and what I would not recommend. I showed how to measure out the food and gave an estimate to how much nugget you should supplement your pet with. Clearly this would depend on the size of your pet rabbit and I gave a guideline but also pointed you to the recommendations on the packet. I also did a video on the most important part of a rabbit’s diet that is his (her) hay. And I went through what I would consider pointers to a good hay. I compared 2 products-Burgess Excel feeding hay with dandelion and marigold, and also one by Oxbow…

I ordered this product in confidence that I was receiving what I have paid for. This is the second time this has happened with an Amazon product! I pay prime and this is not on!
The packet on the right in the photo is the packet I bought from Pets at home, the bag on the left in the photo is the one I received from this seller.
I knew as soon as I opened the bag that the smell, look and feel of the product was off.
My guinea pigs were the real telling! They were picking through and barely eating this. I found a feather and some twigs in the bag and not one Dandelion in sight!
If I was not able to get to a shop or could not afford to get a new bag then my pets would have continued without an essential part of their diet!
Disgusted, this is not what they are advertising

My guinea pigs have always been extremely fussy when it comes to hay and have turned their noses up at almost every type I’ve tried to feed them in the past with the exception of this one and one of the Oxbow varieties. I had been feeding them Readigrass every day because of this but after finding out it should only really be fed in small amounts as a treat (rather than their main everyday diet) and worrying it had contributed to them having bladder problems due to its high calcium content, I really wanted to wean them off of it. Thank the heavens above for this product because they love it and I no longer need to feed them Readigrass at all. There is always very little waste from what I give them, as well. I have had three different batch numbers since I’ve been buying this product and I’ve had no problems with any of them. They have all been lovely and green and fragrant with no dust or anything else undesirable in them. I have read quite a lot of other reviews saying the strands…

I signed up for regular deliveries of this hay as it was great for my Guineas, they loved it!
However, I needed some extra in between so purchased exactly the same product from Pets at Home and oh my goodness, the difference!
It is long stem which I love as it creates a lot less mess but compared the the PAH bag this hay is not great at all, it isnโt long stem imo. Whereas the PAH bag was really long and dense. I tried another bag but again , short stem, dusty, messy, not as advertised on the packaging!
Really disappointed , Iโve now cancelled my subscription and will continue to buy from PAH, although slightly more expensive. This makes me wonder if Burgess sell this on Amazon as a slightly inferior product therefore explaining the cheaper price? Who knows.

The price should have warned me this is old old hay. Smelly and damp.
This bag I got was utterly smelling really damp.
The strands were black and I did not even try it with the girls I binned it straight away.
I have been purchasing this for 3 years from amazon prime now and amazon UK and local pet stores as Guinea pigs really enjoy this hay big time.
Unfortunately this bag was damp and well hay was black.

i bought the same hay in Pets at home, the straw was long and nice, my guinea pigs loved it, so i decided to buy it on Amazon, as the one we had was almost gone, was very disappointed, the straws was very short, it looked like all the waste and dust that left, after the good hay was gone, will never buy it from amazon, as you can not see what you will get, will have to return it
