    Canon EOS 2000D Body Only

Along with the Canon EOS 4000D, they term this a good ‘entry level’ camera for budding photographers who want to enter the DSLR age.

My previous (non-digital) SLR was also a Canon, an EOS rebel, which served me very well, but I stopped using it because the rigmarole of buying film rolls and then having to sending them off to be developed without knowing if I’d even taken any good photos was becoming a chore, and expensive.

I invested in a Canon digital PowerShot A560 as backup and, although simple, it proved to be a very neat little gizmo. So I’m happy with the Canon brand, and no, they ain’t paying me to write that!

I opted for the 2000D over the 4000D because it has 24.1 megapixels as opposed to 18, and a larger LCD screen (3.0 as opposed to 2.7). Also, the lens mounting ring is metal, rather than plastic, so I figured it would be a wee more robust. A tad more expensive, admittedly, but not by a huge amount, and I figure it’s worth paying the extra if you…

Impressed with this camera, which allows you to happy snap to your heart’s content with the “intelligent auto” setting if you’re not in the mood for effort, or to get a professional-grade result with a few seconds for setting up, using the many options provided or going for entirely manual control. It’s a big camera, but is thoughtfully designed to make it easy to hold, and as a left-hander who struggles with camera controls I must say it’s the easiest one to hold and operate the buttons on that I’ve ever used. Where it is let down sadly is by the Canon Connect software, which connects the camera for picture transfer via WiFi, but to Android or iOs devices only. One selling point for me was that the camera can take photos in both jpg and RAW format, RAW giving a higher quality picture that can be post-processed on a computer to enhance it or bring out detail. Unfortunately Android devices will not store RAW images sent over WiFi, and they are converted into jpgs. So, if you want to…

For a ‘technical’ review of this camera. Please see the other reviews as they seem to have covered everything.
Personally, I chose this camera as an entry level DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) to explore the world of photography beyond a) my history of 35mm SLRs/and 6cm TLRs and b) the very handy and capable ‘pocket sized’ digital compact cameras.
From reading many reviews, from many sources, I decided this camera would be my most cost-effective approach – by minimising my initial spend (especially when this camera/lens was on offer), allowing subsequent investment once and if, I enjoyed the DSLR experience.
I wanted a reliable, time proven camera that would a) provide easy yet comprehensive automatic shooting (happy-snaps!) and b) a semi-pro level of manual control. This camera was my choice.
The camera has many, many features and functions and I have a long way to go before I will be able to use them all.
I would like to offer the following though:
The camera is well designed and…

I was looking to buy an entry level DSLR and this one fits the bill, easy to use, light and versatile and I can finally do justice to the fantastic scenery up in the Lakes. I particularly like the metal lens mount rather than the plastic one on the 4000D which should be far more robust.
The only problem is the manual which comes with the camera which is almost useless so I took the advice of other reviewers and bought The Canon 2000D / Rebel T7 user manual which gives you all of the info that should be in the manual which comes with the camera.
