Considering this printer does not have a network card, you’d think the inclusion of the essential USB cable would be a no brainer but apprently Cannon have decided that people who buy this printer don’t actually want to use it.
TLDR: Can only be used over USB but no cable is included so printer is unusable out of the box.

I wanted a printer for my second computer. Sometimes the paper feed is 2 sheets instead of one.

This printer does not come with a USB cable to connect it. It says this on the box but isn’t clear in the listing. I bought one along with it after seeing in a review it didn’t come with one. It was only ยฃ2.50 to get one. It arrived the next day and it does what it says on the tin. Comes with 2 ink cartridges so for the price isn’t bad. One big tip when installing, DO NOT attach the USB and turn it on till the setup guide tells you to. Installation will fail and you have to start it all again. Also if you don’t have a CD drive you download the drivers from the Canon Website. Once installed it works absolutely perfectly. Scan and print quality is decent for a home office. The initial test print takes time but once it’s done print speed is quick enough. Adequate for a wallet friendly but of kit. I’m happy with it.

The printer is not compatible with the Samsung Galaxy 09 os. I did not find out till I’d got it all out and was finishing the setup. Samsung are not unusual phones, so a warning about this seems reasonable at point of purchase. I expected better of Canon.

I work in IT. I’ve installed many printers over the years. Wired and wireless. This one just would not work. Tried for several hours (on what should be a 15 minute job). Sent back as faulty.

Being a complete technophobe I try and stick with the same product when I renew, even if it’s pretty naff. Hence my choice of printer. I also prefer wired devices to wireless as I don’t like “broadcasting” my information but this is now “old fashioned” and my next printer will probably be wireless only. First up, as other reviewers have pointed out, THERE IS NO CABLE PROVIDED so you can’t use it out of the box unless you have a spare in your junk drawer (note, the socket on the printer is a MINI USB). Go figure.
The set up can be a bit hit and miss. I found restarting the computer did the trick for me. It comes with a start up CD but my new laptop doesn’t have a CD drive so …
So it’s slow, noisy and clunky and now expensive. My last one was ยฃ20 from Argos, this one cost more like ยฃ80. For that money I could have bought a more modern device, which is probably what I’ll do next time.
In short, unless you can get it dirt cheap, I’d say go for a more modern model unless you really…

Purchased because the advert on Amazon indicated it used the same ink cartridges as my previous printer which were a reasonable price.
In truth cartridges are very expensive ( in my opinion) so for me a disappointment.
Works okay

Nice little printer for average home office.
Set up is really easy.
Disappointed in options for certain printing.
Technician support was prompt when contacted….this printer cannot support Borderless printing…. so it’s no good for my Desktop Publishing.
