I just love this little printer, it is very compact and light, comes with cassette for 4×6 paper, photos are beautiful and really glossy, prints in 4 layers of colour.
You have to purchase Canon3115B001(AA) Ink and Paper Set for 4×6 prints and Canon7739A001AH KC-361P paper and ink and Canon 6202B001AA PCC-CP400 Paper Cassette for Credit card size prints separately.

This thing is terrible for 2021; Canon doesn’t provide drivers for MacOS BigSur, and even with 3rd-party (Gutenprint) drivers installed, the Selphy doesn’t recognize my Mac, and I can’t add it to my Mac manually. Further, the Selphy User Interface is rather slow. Finally, despite ensuring that my JPGs weren’t “progressive”, the Selphy just would not recognize nor print the jpgs from even an SD card. I am returning this, as it’s just not fit for purpose if you have a recent OS. Will have to try more conventional inkjet printers I think, which is a shame as the Selphy seemed like a neat product when it works.

I bought this printer to replace a Selphy CP670 which had developed a terminal fault, but discovered that it was not compatible with my desktop computer using Widows Vista. Canon recommended the Selphy CP 900 which is compatible but told me that they no longer had any in stock. I eventually bought an ex-display model from eBay which turned out to be in mint condition and has worked very well producing post-card size colour photographs from my computer.

I love this printer. We had the previous model which died on us last year after using it for about 7-8 years so we decided to purchase the newer version. There is even a newer one that works via wifi, but I wanted the model working via the cable, which is this one. Pictures are coming out great and the resolution is way better than the one you get from the mainstream photo labs (ie Boots). So far we are very pleased with the printer. The only thing we were not expecting is that the software we used for the previous model does not work with this one and it was not updated at all so we cannot find a newer version. The previous software allowed you to chose what region of the image to print, could zoom in/out, move the area to left, right, up, down. just enough flexibility for easy photo printing when you do not want to open Photoshop for minor adjustments. That’s why I’m giving it 4 of 5.

ย for my DIY photobooth at my wedding. Worked perfectly, the prints are very high quality and not too expensive for the paper/ink sets. The size of print is great for sticking into a photobook – we had people stick them in a book and write messages alongside. Now we have a book full of photos of our (drunken) friends and some lovely (and some hilariously inappropriate) messages to remember our wedding day.
Switching the paper and ink is also really easy – we left some basic instructions and our wedding guests sorted it out as they went along.
The prints do take a little while to come out as it does each colour in turn (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow – can’t remember if it then does black separately?) and for each colour it prints it, pushes the paper out, then pulls it back in to do…

Before I sing its praises a word of warning: It does not come with any printing paper or cartridges, you need to buy these seperately and the one I use is: Canon KP-108IN Ink and Paper Set for Selphy CP Series Photo Printers. This contains 108 postcard size sheets and the cartridges to print them on this machine.
I am delighted with my new Selphy CP1000. It does everything I would want it to do, given that I only want 6×4 postcard sized prints and it is tailor made for this purpose. The prints I would describe as being highly satisfactory, alright, if you were to hand your prints in to a professional lab, you would get (hopefully) a more definitive result but you would also pay significantly more for it and wait considerably longer, with the Selphy you get your prints right away and I find the quality to be better than many online labs which process prints from your upload and mail them to you.
I will turn to the questions raised by many about the machine not being compatible with…

A word of warning. This printer will only print postcard sized 6×4 pictures onto 6×4 paper. if you order credit card sized paper, it won’t work as the cassette you load the paper into expects to receive 6×4 paper and the printer says you have the wrong paper in. I supect if you put the 6×4 ink film in instead of the card sized film, it might work, but as I’m still waiting for my 6×4 ink and paper to arrive I cant prove it. Anyway, don’t bother buying 3×2 card sized paper and ink film.
