This SSD is a great option. It has a DRAM cache, simple installation and is well worth it’s normal price, and especially the price if it’s on offer like I had bought it for. My computer originally had a hard drive so it was naturally very slow. After installing windows onto the SSD, Wiping my old drive (Using a USB stick to backup the files I wanted), and downloading all the applications and games I wanted, I noticed huge speed improvements in almost every aspect. The boot time is incredibly fast now, games and apps open almost immediately, and my speedy internet wasn’t being bottlenecked (limited) by my slow hard drive so downloading games and apps was even quicker. Also if you go for a higher capacity you’re likely to see even more improvement than a lower capacity so for a 480gb drive to improve my system this drastically, a 1tb or more would improve a system even further. Cheaping out on a product like this can be a mistake because other cheaper SSD’s can even have worse…

As title, purchased the 480Gb version as a replacement drive fro an older laptop that just needed a bit of speeding up.

Installed the drive into the laptop with no issues, turned on, Bios recognised it as the aforementioned drive, attempted to install windows on it and came back with errors. Removed drive from laptop, connected via external caddy to main computer and formatted it multiple times and in various styles (exFat, MacOs Extended, MS-Dos etc) and with different levels of security wipes and each time it only ever formatted to 98.5Gb ???? Very odd and frustrating.

Returned to Amazon and will stick with Seagate and WD in future i think.

What on earth are Crucial playing at, This is not 480 gb its about 447 gb if your lucky and the cheap plastic casing is awful, This is a classic case of a once good company living off its good name, Never again will I buy Crucial products, this has caused me so many problems not once but twice because i got the same replacement , I cant recommend this product and Im not happy with this purchase at all. FYI i know have to wait ages for a refund through no fault of my own.

A typical Crucial product, excellently made, performance is very acceptable for the price and looks good even if you only see it for a short while. Recommended for most laptops which can be checked on their website, clone down load excellent also and most people could fit this depending on you particular laptop. This is an effective and cost efficient way to speedup an older PC saving the need to buy new, even if you buy new at a lowish price the chances are good you getting older technologies anyway especially under the 300 pounds for a laptop. Be warned do not use windows defragmentation to tidy up the disc allocation, it will screw up an SSD. Also partions as on a platter mechanical drive do not mean anything on an ssd there just a section of allocated memory like a folder. It seems that some people get less than the stated storage volume, this depends on the system section of memory when the ssd is initiated, some made up from file block data and system catalogue depending on…

I replaced the hard drive in my 5 year old Lenovo G570. I used the Acronis for Crucial cloning software supplied by Crucial and it worked perfectly. My laptop is now very fast and I’m very happy. By the way I’m 72 years old.

I bought this based on reviews in various computer mags and websites and have no complaints at all. I originally intended it as a replacement for the 240Gb disc in my Dell laptop but then found that the C: drive was actually an M2 form factor – so I just added this one as the D: drive and transferred everything that wasn’t either the operating system or games. All my digital photos, mp3s, documents, ebooks, etc, etc – basically everything that didn’t need the faster access speed.

Installation was a doddle – open case, connect wires, put drive into bay, close case – but Windoze couldn’t ‘see’ the drive although it showed up in Device Management! A quick online search provided the easy-to-follow solution, I basically needed to ‘tell’ the computer that it was there. Once I’d done that it just worked as though it had been there from the start.

I will confess to building my own desktops from the bits ‘n’ pieces I choose (it’s just Lego for grown-ups, it really is) so I had no worries…

Bought this for my cheese grater mac pro to replace a San disk ssd as I needed more space. It does everything that an ssd should for quite a low cost for a reputable brand. Quite tricky to install in a cheese grater mac and you need the bracket to attach to the hard drive sled but bought that separately. I know people compare speeds and what not but as long as I’m not waiting for a boot up or the things an ssd should speed up then I’m happy
