There are sadly only a couple of changes to this new model. The Design is the main difference. If you already have the 3rd generation then I don’t believe this is worth the upgrade as the speaker is the same size and, in my opinion doesn’t give any better quality sound than the previous model. It does get a little louder.

If you are coming from a 2nd gen then it is definitely worth getting although if you can buy the 3rd generation at a decent price then, unless design is your buying motive , it may be the better buy.

I do like the light being at the bottom rather than the top as it is still visible but doesn’t light up a dark room at night.

This model also has more power saving than the previous versions and that is a good thing. I am a bit disappointed that there wasn’t more improvements to the sound. I just think for most people the 3rd generation will be just as good.

A smashing tool for somebody with ms. My wide has mobility and sight impairment. The Echo can make phone calls and play music/radio. I am sure that there will be other things that come of use as time goes by. We are having difficulty connecting the Echo to the Amazon fire stick, for instance. Anyway a little more independence. Oh, because we are on the same network, I can call my wife’s Echo without her needing to do anything, I can just drop in for a chat and my wife does not have the hassle of sorting the phone out. A great improvement in her life and her self esteem.

I had already bigger echo version for sitting room, love it so decided got this one for kids room as they loved previous dot model. Same as on bigger model Amazon did the biggest total renovation on shape of it. Very nice elegant and modern looking style.
Best update on respond to voice , due to its round shape and multi mic build in it detects voice perfectly even while playing high volume music. Absolutely fine detecting voice from long distance. No need to lug ethernet connections as on old models, it connects directly to home Wi-Fi.
Set up very easy, if you upgrading it connects automatically, no need even to type your wifi password. If first time Alexa buyer then it’s still very simple step by step installation provided.
I can listen all radio stations just by asking Alexa play radio. Also I have connected all by other accounts so have more functions, you can add your -Spotify, -Amazon Music, -Apple music, -Deezer, -Audible…

Hello everyone, I’ve put together this written review, alongside a video review, of the new Amazon Echo Dot Gen 4. If you’re familiar with Echo and Alexa, you’ll only be interested in the first part of the review and you can ignore everything after my device appraisal. Acknowledging, though, that many people may be new to smart speakers I’ve also added sections on how to install the Alexa app, how to set up your new speaker and what you can subsequently do with the Echo Dot. My apologies for going over things that you might already know, but I try to be as inclusive as possible. A word on myself, a regular Amazon reviewer and member of their Vine review programme. However, this review is entirely independent and based on a product that I purchased at full RRP and opinions are entirely my own.

    The Device:

The Echo speaker has been around a few years now, and despite the best efforts of Google and Apple, Amazon’s Alexa has been…
