I tried several options before buying these on release day, and I’m glad I chose them!
I first tried Amazon’s Blink XT2 camera, however found the image quality too poor, the hub signal too poor, and lack of support for HomeKit a reason to return them. Next I tried Arlo Pro 2, which have a good app, good quality image and HomeKit support but are very expensive and require a yearly subscription for cloud viewing (after the free trial). Lastly I thought I’d try the Eufy Cam 2C once they finally became available in the UK.
Pros:
– Good image quality – this is similar to other 1080p cameras (Arlo Pro 2) and I’ve not iced that the quality varies, interestingly being better quality if viewed in the Apple Home app.
– Battery Life: the 6 months battery life seems decent, but time will tell. My outdoor camera views a rarely accessed piece of land and the battery after two weeks is still 99%. My front door camera however is triggered 20+ times a day and is on 88%, though being in the hallway will…

I tried a few other options before settling on these and I now confident eventually, i have mad the best decision! I am a bit of nerd when it comes to home security and I have been looking for a while for the best alternative to my wired system.
Initially I tried Moobox’s and the blink solution and a few other cheaper wireless alternatives but the image was not great, the sound quality worse and the battery drained very quickly. Additionally the alternatives had their base station tethered via ethernet cable to the router which made getting the signal around a larger house untenable.
So after getting the Eufy 2c, I set the system up and can now confirm the good, bad and ugly!
The Good.
1.) Cameras are well built and the set up was easy. The accompanying App (download it first) walks you through the set up. I had them running within 5-10 mins( unmounted )of opening the package.
2.) Build quality seems pretty good. It is a sealed unit so water getting in shouldn’t be problem.
