The Real Tron –
Totally useless. Just doesn’t work. Constant “lost connection”. So I spent ยฃ300 on Amplifi HD WiFi router and a a mesh point. I put the mesh point within 2 metres of the camera . Everything says full WiFi signal including my phone. Yet still, the camera has no connection and does not work.
An expensive waste of money and a painful waste of time. I wish I hadn’t brought this c**p.

The signal on my HD external and internal NEST cams was blocked by new criminal device that blocks the wireless signal to the camera to stop it recording or picking up motion prior to the event taking place so no alerts came through on the mobiles and no record of footage was captured of the event. (WARNING TO ALL BUYERS)
Also if any camera footage is used as evidence in court, it must meet a certain resolution in quality or it will be dismissed.
Now upgrading security by removing all the NEST equipment and replacing with hard wired units instead!

I have tried several IP cameras in the past but none of them were as simple to setup as this camera. Also I wanted to have cloud storage. Many cameras store footage on an SD card in the camera which is pointless if someone steals the camera. Some people place there cameras up high but again all you will see is the top of there heads. I have been using this camera now for about 6 months and never had a problem.
First of all I would stress that ANY review you read about people having connection issues or streaming issues is not a camera fault….its a wireless or mobile signal fault. If you are trying to connect to a router thats far away you should get yourself a wireless booster or ethernet over power adapter so the camera can talk to this instead of a router thats to far away and with poor signal. I use a Netgear wifi booster so the camera only has to connect to the other side of the wall instead of 15 meters away.

This review is based on eights monthโs experience with two Nest cameras at my own house and then, recently, installing two more for a family member.
What you get with a Nest camera is 24/7 video recording in relatively high quality colour during the day and monochrome at night, the latter assisted by the cameraโs built in infrared illuminator. You can access any of this footage, subject to paying a subscription.
The performance of these cameras, both in terms of ease of installation, and operation has been excellent. If you set up your Nest account on a mobile device, preferably a phone, then connection involves little more than pointing your camera at the QR code on the camera and everything happens automatically. Physical installation of the camera is pretty straight forward provided youโve got a power socket handy. Data connection is wireless only.

I am not going to repeat what other reviews have already provided but just highlighting one point, which came as a rude shock to me, if this helps other potential buyers.
The key reason, I went for Nest was it motion detection. However, Nest has a 30 minute cooling off period. This means, if two successive activities were noticed by the camera within 30 minutes of each other, then you will not get any notification of the second activity (although will be recorded, if you have Nest aware). Also, this duration of 30 minute is NOT configurable. This is a critical piece of information for some of us and has not been stated anywhere in their product specs. Clearly a gap, which burglars can take advantage of and there are videos online to demonstrate this and bought to Nestโs attention too!
