Compact printer primarily purchased for my daughters schoolwork and regular photographic printing.
Comes with starter inks and was relatively straightforward to set up using my iPhone by following the supplied link and downloading the Hp Print app via the App Store.
For anyone struggling to find the 3 months free instant ink trial code like I did, the code is not found on the packaging or the literature, it is actually supplied during the printer setup process. Since there are plenty of reviews for the actual item already and pretty sparse info regarding the instant ink side of things, I’ll concentrate more on that for anyone else struggling to understand it as I did.
Once you use the Hp print app to run through the initial wireless setup and click on the “Start you free instant ink trial” banner it will lead you to the hpconnected page. There you create an hp account and it guides you through the instant ink setup process whereby at a certain point it asks you to press the wireless…

I’d like to give a positive review – but the colour cartridge shipped with the product doesn’t work. So I have a decent looking plastic box in my office, although to be honest – I have actual plastic boxes that look more box-like and can stand up under scrutiny as being a, well, a plastic box.. This if put under anything resembling a product interrogation would leave the interrogator stumped. I can’t call it a printer yet because so far it has failed at printing.
Its nice looking, but doesn’t have that edge that I can tell my wife it is modern art, yet it is in no way retro enough that I can say it is a throwback decoration.
I’ve tried using it for other functions – but its crap at being a toaster oven, bluetooth speaker, a voice activated assistant, and a toilet brush – latterly as it doesn’t fit in the bowl!
It may well scan very well – however I have a smart phone that by the last count has 14 different scanning apps installed that all work brilliantly.. The smart phone cannot…

Beautiful printer, extremely easy to set up and the price was reasonable as well!! it also came with instant ink which is great once youโve managed to set it up, so overall a really good buy!

First of all, the printer works fine, but will only print pictures or PDFs from mobile devices, or the desktop app, you have to go into the print options on office documents to print them.
The cartridges provided are instant ink cartridges, and will not work unless you are connected to HP so they can monitor your usage. After 15 pages you will get charged ยฃ1 for ever 10 pages printed (don’t get fooled by the free trial, it doesn’t work) – this works on pages not size or ink usage, I used it to print some Filofax pages (17.1 X 9.5 cm) in Black and white, and got charged the same as a full A4 colour picture would have cost me. Complained to HP, all they said was I should have read the small print. Replaced the cartridges with ones I bought myself, in the last 3 days gave had 6 A4 colour prints sent by HP saying there is a problem with the instant ink account – that they cancelled and I’m no longer using, and that unless resolved my printer will no longer be able to print, despite it…

So for years I have used Epson printers and thought the cartridges costs where high until they rocketed to stupid prices, and then went down the route of a new printer. I saw the HP advert last year for HP Instant Ink and now I have it I am amazed, the cost is free for up to 15 per month, ink included, they send it you when you run out! No brainer, at ยฃ25 for the printer as well it is a great deal. The printer itself is so easy to set up, download the app from 123.hp.com and away you go, easy as that. It self connects to to the wifi and my MAC.
The quality is great too at that price, prints better than my Epson, way better and if you use this code pjQw8 you get an extra month free, so 4 months in total, code is pjQw8 and it is added into your account when set up gives you 300 FREE prints per month, the ink is sent to you when it gets low so no need to order ink, what a great service.
