I tried several 4G routers and this was the only one that worked reliably. However, the 4G signal was still not strong enough where I live (Oxford) to make it viable as an alternative to ADSL broadband. Also, the wireless strength was weak, so I had to connect it to an Ethernet over mains adaptor to reach from the living room to bedroom in a very small flat. The SIM slot is fiddly.

Works well, except some odd interaction with a sim card from French provider Free. After cell network outages (lightning), the connection seems to get stuck in ‘roaming’ mode (except it isn’t roaming, it just has no data). The only fix I have found is to put the SIM into a phone temporarily then back into the router.
Things to note:
Assume unless you know otherwise that you will be behind CGNAT and will not be able to access ports from the WAN.
Built-in VPN works (at least with my ASUS home router), but I have no routing between the home LAN and the VPN (I think this might be fixable, but easier to install a R-PI and set up a tunnel).

Does what it says on the box I live in a chalet in the countryside and the signal was good but just needed a bit of a boost so I purchased a 4g antenna from Amazon for 20 pounds and rigged it up on a scaffold tube and the signal is brilliant runs my smart tv in the bedroom and my smart features on my sky box

Great router, good signal. I’m using it to run a security camera (ezviz and the app) at a currently empty property.
Loaded it with a 120gb EE data sim which cost £50, which lasts 12 months or until data runs out, but according to current usage should easily last the 12 months.

I’ll split the review into 2 parts, focusing on the router and the Smarty SIM separately. The router is brilliant for what it is; it was very quick and simple to get connected and the Smarty plans seem to do the job.
Once I placed the SIM in and powered up, a wifi network become available very quickly. I attached a PC to the LAN / WAN port and was assigned an IP – heading to the default gateway address lands you at the router login (you could also connect via Wifi). I was guided through a quick password change for the admin area along with some very simple questions about Wifi SSID and password. After completing this, the new Wifi name came up and all devices that connected received internet.
The management interface isn’t very complicated but also doesn’t provide a ton of functionality. It does everything you need to connect many devices via Wifi (or Ethernet using a switch or router) to a single LTE connection. There are some basic port forwarding features and NAT management (bear…

I am living in the city, so there is quite good mobile signal coverage. I received the router, unpacked it, got a data deal with the mobile company that comes in the bundle (which took two hours to become active), and finally had access to the internet.

I bought this because my new house is not serviced by any of the major internet providers. For the most part, 4G is enough for what I do (basic video streaming & office work). It has allowed me to connect all of my smart devices, and was substantially cheaper than the alternatives. I also think it looks great (for a router). Performance is adequate. But beware – this only has one LAN port and so I felt the need to buy an Ethernet switch in addition.
