Without writing reams, for my usage (messaging, web, camera, viewing images & videos, shopping apps, various other apps but not games), this is a superb phone, it does everything well. The crown jewel is the camera and although I haven’t taken masses of pics yet, they are high quality. The battery life is superb. My previous Moto G6 needed charging by bedtime, this phone is typically running 50% charged by bedtime.WHILE THIS MAY NOT BE VERY IMPORTANT TO OTHERS, MY ONE CURRENT AREA OF MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT IS THE FACT THAT WHILE IT SUPPORTS HANDSFREE PHONE CALLS WELL WHEN BLUETOOTH CONNECTED TO MY 6 MONTH OLD BMW ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO SUPPORT HANDSFREE TEXT MESSAGING. MY 2 PREVIOUS PHONES (LUMIA 950XL AND MOTO G6) BOTH SUPPORTED HANDSFREE TEXTING WHICH WORKED GREAT AND WHICH I FIND VERY USEFUL. SO FAR, EVEN AFTER CONTACTING HUAWEI SUPPORT I CAN’T (SO FAR) GET THIS £900 PHONE TO SUPPORT HANDS FREE TEXTING.(FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE FEATURE, WHEN A TEXT ARRIVES WHEN YOU’RE DRIVING, THE CAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM (BLUETOOTH CONNECTED TO THE PHONE) NOTIFIES OF A NEW TEXT ARRIVING AND ASKS YOU IF IT SHOULD READ OUT THE TEXT. IF YOU SAY YES/OK IT READS IT OUT ALOUD. IT THEN ASKS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REPLY TO IT. IF YOU SAY ‘YES’ IT ASKS YOU TO DICTATE THE MESSAGE. IT THEN READS BACK THE MESSAGE AND ASKS IF YOU WISH TO SEND IT (OR DICTATE AGAIN) … IF YOU SAY ‘YES’ IT SENDS IT, JOB DONE WITH NO DELAYS.)

I’ve been on the fence about buying this for a while. Hadn’t been happy with my last phone which was my first android phone since windows phone demise. Had it a few years and just never liked it, I have to say the P30 Pro is enjoyable as far as phone goes to use, the camera is very impressive, however I find the wide lense seems to take more natural photos in terms of colours to what I see, but the normal camera with the Leica Vivid setting seems to create the best point and click photos. I’ve included 2 very hastily taken photos, one is standard and the other Vivid, standard pretty much looks exactly how you see it, Vivid looks better though, i’m in 2 minds about this as I like natural photo’s, but then the Vivid one just pops out at you. These were taken very hastily as its a busy path so not the best example by any means.Bit miffed its 4:3 ratio as I tend to use photos as a desktop background, I guess i’ll get over that in time and everyone points out thats the proper photo format. One thing that has completely surprised me is the battery life, and the snazzy animations when you plug it in. There are a lot of extra Huawei things, some good some bad, but I’m completly blown away by the battery, as its new I’ve been using it more than usual and I got 2 days from it, finally plugging it at 11% left, I took the screenshots before I learned you can double tap the screen with your knuckles to take a screen shot, little things like that are quite impressive, the phone is really smooth, the curved glass doesn’t annoy me as much as I thought it would however the menu that comes in from the side of the screen bugs me as I keep bringing it up by accident, a bit better now but I really wish gesture controls could be fully turned off. Another interesting one with the knuckle tap if you use 2 knuckles and double tap the screen it records the sound & video, could be useful for some? i’m not sure, but its a nice idea to include it.I personally use Square Launcher as I’m in denial about windows phone no longer being a thing, I just find the interface nicer and having a photo slideshow on the main screen of the phone is a big plus to me, can’t comment on the stock launcher, but its far less bloaty feeling that I was expecting after using other brands custom launchers. My only gripe is the price for this phone is the cost & slippy ness of it, not sure why all phones have to be able to slide across a table with ease, but for the price i’d rather a less slippy phone for fear of dropping it. However, the aurora back of the phone is stunning and a real shame to put a case on, without a case the phone is lovely to hold and use, with one, it just feel too bulky but at the cost of the phone i’m kind of afraid to use it without one. Finally, as for the version, I went for the 512gb one its the same price from high street shops as the 128gb one, its kinda wierd having so much space available, but i’d rather have too much space than too little! Its also very very fast at transferring files!

Replaced my OnePlus 6 with the Huawei P30 Pro after the OP6’s “waterproof” marketing proved to be less than true! I wanted a handset with a top-notch camera, good performance and little bloatware. The P30 Pro has not disappointed. Let’s start with the pros:– The camera is just phenomenal. From the wide-angle and telephoto lenses, great low-light performance, strong portraiture/aperture modes and some fantastic extra modes (slow-mo, timelapse etc.). Easily the strongest phone camera I’ve used.– Battery life. Just brilliant! It is 10:15pm, I’ve worked a full-day, done a bit of gaming and a lot of Twitter…and the battery still stands at 60%.– Charging is incredibly fast and the reverse wireless charging is very clever!– Performance has been extremely positive — no freezing and no slowdowns.– In-screen fingerprint sensor is surprisingly effective. I get a few errors, but generally it has worked well across multiple fingers.– Half a TERABYTE of Storage. Expandable (but a proprietary Huawei memory card which is very disappointing).– Stunning screen.Cons:– EMUI is ok, but there’s far too much bloatware. WHY WHY does Huawei feel the need to develop its own browser, app store, music app, photo gallery etc.? None of these apps can be deleted either. The launcher is a tad awkward (I replaced with Nova) and the Settings app remains convoluted.– Face unlock is pretty bad. You have to be front on, which means that hiding the notifications without a positive face detection means you rarely see your notifications.– The speaker is tinny and easy to cover when gaming. So not without its flaws — but overall, I’m super-impressed with it. Looks beautiful, performs incredible and has one of the best cameras you can get on a phone. The bloatware is a little frustrating, but with a little tweaking, I’ve managed to get it to a state I’m extremely happy with. 4 stars!

I had a few issues with the sim when I first got the phone but everything was sorted quickly, customer service was very good. Postage was speedy and it was packed well. The phone itself is excellent, and I am very pleased with this buy and would recommend it to anyone wanting a decent phone, with high-end features. It has more than enough gadgets that I like such as face recognition and fingerprint unlock and does everything I need. Very pleased with this buy. My only gripe is the battery life, others have said they get 2 days without charging, mine needs charging on a daily basis otherwise it shuts itself down midway through the next day. In all a fairly good phone that does everything that I need and more. Great customer service so yes I would recommend it.

A slow delivery but the customer service is responsible. The phone is nice. But the sides of the screen often appear bubbles. Can be adapted to Android system using apps called “ourplay” and “apkpure”. Last but no least, the quad camera is terrific. Basically good shopping experience.

Phone does all the things i want it to do so far with no problems, battery lasts longer than expected and even when it is low, still able to do more than any previous phone i’ve had before, pictures and video are brilliant, the only thing was that it didn’t come with the original fast charger, however have one now.

4 stars!
