I bought this with the intention of using it to monitor my 3D printer remotely.
Some prints an take 48 hours to complete and i thought i would be able to check printer progress or problems when out.

Little did I know I would be expected to share my name, my house address, and other information before i could even start to use it. I just put incorrect info in and it seemed to accept it.

Why do they need all these details?

Anyway the picture quality seems fine and it hooked up to my wifi OK but it is far to much of a faff to do the simple task I had bought it for.

If i had kept the packaging i would send it back as not fit for my intended task and far too intrusive software.

If you have bought into the ring system and are happy to share your life story with them then I expect it will do the job for you. But not for me.

The Indoor Camera is my fifth Ring device to go along with my doorbell, floodlight, spotlight and stickup cameras. The first thing that struck me is how small it is compared to the stickup camera. Don’t let the size fool you as this still has great functionality such as customised motion zones, sensitivity, colour night vision etc etc. The Indoor Camera is powered by a standard micro USB connector so if you find the one in the box a little short like I did, you can always use another cable and plug.

Indoor Camera can be either sat on a table or screwed to the wall or ceiling without having to purchase additional kit as screws are included. The only thing that doesn’t come in the box is the screw driver and drill bit however that’s not a big deal to me as these are a standard part of any toolbox in most cases.

In terms of value for money, I’d highly recommend this as an alternative to the slightly cheaper Chinese units you can buy.

Easy enough setup with the Ring app and connects to Echo show just fine.

The deal breaker for me is the time out of the live view after 5-10min, making it useless as a baby/pet/kid monitor. There is also no way to show the camera feed on the echo show if motion is detected, only on your phone.

Thought I’d post an initial impression post after recieving as there are no reviews or this yet. (Will post an update once tested)

**** Update following actual use ****
Much the same features as other Ring cameras in a smaller form factor, picture quality just as good.

Only odd thing I have noticed is that in records and live view there seems to be lag when motion occurs and movement appears slightly blurred and juddery. Odd as my other external ring cameras are on same VLAN and this when has stronger Wi-Fi signal, slightly different hardware I guess.

    Initial post:

I currently have a ring pro doorbell and outside camera. Didn’t really want to spend over £80 on a ring indoor camera though when basic indoor up cams can be picked up for around £20. So this seemed to meet the requirement at just under £50. Okay still twice the price of some China based cams you can pick up but I find the ring products including apps and service quite polished.

I intend on replacing the PIRs around my…

Hello, I’ve just bought this camera as a replacement to a cheap unheard of brand of camera, reason being is i wanted to get my cameras under one app and if I’m storing on the could i at least want to use a brand I’ve heard off. I use the cameras just to monitor the dogs when I’m out of the house and also use IFTTT to turn on select Hue lights when they detect motion.

The camera itself feels well build and tight, got it mounted on the table at the moment but plan to place it on the wall nearer the ceiling for a better view. I’m missing the rotation function from this camera however the wide field of view is zoom-able and as long as you don’t need near 360 degree vision one camera should be enough. The camera comes with options for wall or ceiling mounting. The hardware also comes with a good length of USB Mains supply but requirements will vary depending on position.

Software set up was simple adding it to existing cameras, just add device, scan the bar-code on the back of the device…
