ok so I thought I would miss my 4k monitor. I was so wrong. Very crisp and games at 144 fps look amazing. 1440p is definitely the sweet spot for gaming in my opinion.
Good colour calibration out of the box. Please note that the maximum resolution for this monitor is 3620 x 2036 which makes it good for productivity as well.
The ergo stand is very good as well and I have more free space on my desk.

Ok – as many others have said this is the same panel as the 27GN850. You can go on the LG website and compare these models and realise itโs the same screen. So the difference here is just the stand.
I found the stand to be heavy and a little bulky at first but I enjoyed it once set up. Itโs really easy to adjust and looks really sleek and minimal. Most of my work is design work so itโs blends nicely into my workspace.
The panel itself is a bright IPS and I had no issues with it when it arrived – I performed a quick calibration with a data colour but found that the โgamer 1โ profile was pretty good anyway and as I liked it. 144hz is obviously lovely of you havenโt seen it before. This panel is colour accurate and looks great. The โborder lessโ design is a bit of a stretch. Iโve seen monitors with less bezel, but they are thing still.
The red ring on the back I find a little annoying. If you step up the the 4K version (27GN950) this becomes RGB lighting – but on this model itโs just a…

I purchased this to replace my ageing 1080p monitor and it took me a while to find what I was looking for at the right price. I’m glad I took my time because this came up on offer where the screen with the flexible stand (tilt, swivel, height adjustment and forwards and backwards) was cheaper than the version with a regular stamd.
What has really blown me away is just how good the picture quality is – I use two other screens at home for work and share this between home and work and the difference in picture quality between this and the other screens is amazing.
The screen supports 144Mhz refresh rate on the Display Port connection and it’s brought a whole new life to games. It also makes Windows 10 seem like a different OS with the amount of additional room I now have available.
Well recommended for anyone looking for a 27″ QHD monitor.

Great picture quality and a nice refresh rate. The thing that really stands out with this monitor is the level of adjustment that the provided stand gives. It can easily be adjusted forwards, backwards, up, down, and rotated through almost 180 degrees. Not only that but it does a good job of staying put when moved into position. The stand also incorporates a nice tidy cable duct so that you don’t have unsightly cables dangling from the back of your monitor.

LG27GN88A full review
This review is my honest opinion and has been no way been subject to change or influence.
So Iโve just built myself a new high end gaming pc and wanted a stylish monitor that could do 144hz at 1440p. After watching numerous reviews I settled on this.
Packaging – the monitor comes in a large and weighty black box, open it up and your met with some polystyrene, lift this up and your presented with the monitor itself wrapped in a soft touch bag. Underneath the monitor is the Flexible arm, itโs heavy so be careful. You also get a power lead. A display port cable (1.4) and a hdmi (2.0) cable.
Setting up – nice and easy to click the articulating arm onto the back of the monitor, just slide the top in first and then the bottom clicks into place, I would however put the clamp in place on your desk first before attaching the monitor. It just makes it less cumbersome.
The bracket attaches under the desk using a screw like mechanism, itโs really sturdy when itโs attached…
