First off I do/did really like it and actually bought a 2nd for work & home but there has been 4 vulnerabilities just found with Logitech’s Unifying USB receivers that this mouse needs to connect to. They only plan to fix 2 of them next month and NOT FIX the remaining 2 vulnerabilities. .
These vulnerabilities will allow keystroke injection attacks, record keystrokes, and take control of compromised systems. The only “slight positive” is they require attackers to have physical access. But in a work environment with many people passing through (colleagues, cleaners, delivery men…etc), I would not take the chance to use this device anymore.
It is probably more a concern for their wireless keyboards (which I also have 2 of) but still not worth the chance of using the mouse in a work environment till the 4 issues are all fixed.

I’ve used the old Logitech M570 trackball for years and although I was not happy with its long term operating life, I could find no superior alternative until they came up with the MX Ergo. There was one review which said the ball action was jerky from the still position and when I started using the MX I thought that seemed to be true, but ongoing use seems to have smoothed out whatever was causing the stutter and now it has a silky smooth action. The hinge base seems very solidly built with a magnetic attachment but honestly once it is in the 20ยฐ position there seems no need to ever put it back flat again. If I had known that this angle made the unit so much more comfortable to use, I’d have rigged the old M570s to have some sort of wedge base under them! I rarely use any of the minor buttons but the scroll wheel and the main buttons seem robust although only time will tell as they were the main cause of failure on the older model. Great until the left button starts turning single clicks into double clicks (for me about 2 years, for many others event less). There are instructions available to “re-tension” the spring underneath the button but we shouldn’t have to do that for a relatively new product. The issue has been known for ages so why Logitech is not sorting it out is a mystery. Avoid this mouse.

I have to mirror other people’s reviews; this is a good improvement over the M570 (so far! – only a week of around 10 hours a day use) minus the price.
Logitech’s earlier wired thumb-ball lasted me over 4 years until I stupidly gave it away and purchased an M570 thinking it an upgrade. 6 x M570’s in ~6 years, a 100% failure rate, and they all failed for the same reason; button problems! All 6 suffered double left-clicking issues from 6-18 months after purchase which was disappointing, and a couple also suffered from the “back”/”forward” buttons seizing too.
If the switches last more than a few years, at least, then I’d recommend the MX Ergo over the M570 hands down. I like the change of angle, the buttons feel much nicer and are customisable, and there’s also more buttons – with many possible functions!
