I have read online that this has happened to lots of users. Whenever the computer is connected to the power, it overheats, the fans go crazy, and it does not perform well.
Some reported that updates fixed the issue- not in my case.
Really disappointed that this would happen in a new product, to so many people.

Everything else is top notch except the battery life. For something so expensive you would guess it works for a day or two non stop but it barely works for 5hours then you have to run to the charger on basic applications like word or Excel. It’s almost like a desktop than a portable laptop.

Bought this surface 3 when price dropped to £770 on Prime Day. Have a mate who has one and loves it so took the plunge and paid for it over 5 months. It is brilliant! The screen is so bright I have to keep turning it down. It is very quick and send to last for ages but I guess about 6 hours of the limit on mixed use. I use a big 20000 MAh battery to to it up as it runs blisteringly quick under power but throttles on battery. However on battery it is quick. Face recognition is ultra fast and the touch screen is really good – much better than a high end As it s Chromebook I also use. I could go on for hours about the lightness, the ultra thin design, the great keyboard but, if you get a chance to snap up one of these for under £800, just do it. Utter no brainer. Ok, they will release a Surface 4 later I suppose but it won’t be much better than this until Microsoft catches up with new bespoke ARM chips. Snag will be that X86 code won’t run on them. That will be a new ball game for the…

Small, thin, light, fast and portable. 👍 won’t be going back to Mac.
Windows 10 In my opinion, faster and more secure, don’t believe all the mac hype machine.

I ordered this laptop for my software business, we have a Macbook Pro but needed another device to test our software on Windows. I decided to get this laptop and initially I was very impressed. It’s lightweight, the keyboard is a dream to type on and the facial recognition works really well. However I will be returning the laptop for the following reasons.

1- For no discernible reason, most noticeable during a call or just while working on a Google Docs the WiFi connection will drop for 10-30 seconds, all my other devices including the aforementioned Macbook Pro and my phone will remain connected with no issues during this time. This will happen frequently throughout the day. I’ve searched various forums and it seems that this is a known fault with this laptop and there are no fixes.

2 – Battery life is very poor. I was surprised at how often I have to charge this laptop, it must be a few times a day, whereas the Macbook Pro being used by my wife during the same time frame will keep…

This my first ever proper laptop, other than an Advent net book I still have from 2008! It’s a shame windows just doesn’t have the apps anymore for it like android does, you have to use a web browser to access a lot of things like prime video and youtube. I bought it to play games on, on my travels, boy it really heats up when it’s at 100% cpu while playing games. I love the form factor, it looks very modern, premium quality. The face recognition is amazing, battery life is not that amazing. It’s very lightweight and portable. The screen is deep and rich. The speakers are surprisingly good. Could’ve done with another usb slot. It has a headphone/earphone jack yes!

Editing my review to now reflect 1 star. The laptop itself is still a 2 star, but the customer service I have recived from Amazon has been appalling. The device was obviously not suitable for purpose, even during the installation of some basic office software, and was returned with 48 hours of receipt. (15 May).
Despite numerous chat conversations with various levels of Amazon customer services, many missed promises of refunds ranging from next day, through 48hrs, 7 days, 14 days…it goes on.
I now find, over a month after the return, instead of refunding me, they have shipped me another of these inadequate systems…unbelievable!!!
From this experience I’ll stick to low cost purchases with Amazon and keep my larger purchases with more specialised companies.

Well made laptop, but do not purchase if you want to use it for anything other than general office tasks and web browsers. Despite the adverts from Microsoft it is definitely not suitable for photo or video editing.
    Even just…

Very lightweight. The keyboard is good but not as good as the keyboard on my 2014 MacBook Pro.The screen is bright(400 nits)but not quite as bright as my MacBook Pro (500 nits). However ,the quality of the display sometimes takes your breath away. The time to start up and shut down is very quick.Facial recognition is extremely good and quick. The touch screen is very responsive. When it on my lap sometimes it seems to get a little hotter than my MacBook Pro does, although on some YouTube videos ,it seems it actually got less hot than the new MacBook Pro,so I am not sure about my observations. It is a very well engineered and svelt machine.Overall in the month I have used it I am very happy with it.However,I am now getting wi-fi connectivity issues every day and this is a very well known fault and I am no longer recommending this laptop because of this fault.
