I had significant hopes for this product, particularly after reading so many glowing reviews, and to be fair some of what is said is accurate; however, it is not a fully functioning product just yet. It did locate the vast majority of my 51,000 photos across different devices, no mean feat. that said more than half of them were marked as unknown locations, dates etc. This is troubling as it recognised some from a particular shoot but not others from the same shoot/card. It managed to spot about 70% of duplicates, but that still left a considerable number. While it recognised and sorted many people by facial recognition, again, it failed in about 30% of cases. Since the product is marketed as a device that will ‘Automatically Back up and Organize All of Your Photos’ it fails to do what it is essentially supposed to. Furthermore, when I contacted Monument about how I could manually edit the information and correct the face-tags I was informed that I could only do it on my iPhone but…

The potential here is huge, it’s technically a clever bit of kit that could save huge amounts of time and hassle, however, it’s still in development and is not perfected.
If, like me you have in excess of 30k photos to copy over, it constantly, constantly crashes and has moments (hours) where is does nothing but her itself in a twist. I’ve had it over a week and I still haven’t got everything copied over. The app is good, the mobile interface is good and really useful to access out of the network. You can’t seem to download full size images though, that needs fixing.
Huge potential, tedious most of the time though.
I nearly sent it back, I still might!
Down to two stars, the potential is still there, 6 months later, but the software is still mega buggy, it just doesn’t work half the time!
The new update crashed as soon as I tried to use it, now the monument has disconnected itself from both Ethernet and wireless, and even after a reboot, it won’t log back in.
Developers, you need to sort…

Very disappointed with this product, it is almost like a beta version of a product. The key issues that of concern were.
1) Only once connected to a hard drive but once I added another drive none of the drives connected even after performing several factory resets.
2) The device is plagued by poor communication errors with completely inconsistent connection between my phone and the Monument device even when both were held in close proximity.
3) Very poor Android app interface, limited functionality, poor response rates and failure to update information. For example after selecting the reset option the app continued to show an active connection throughout the rebooting process of Monument.
In conclusion nice idea..poor execution.

I had a problem with the first unit I had as it was losing internet connection even though in same room as wireless router.. I was disappointed so returned it to Amazon. However I have another device and its working perfectly. Uploaded 9,000 photo’s and it was a very simple 15-20 minute job to organise them into folders using face recognition. I also have the location map available in Monument. So I plan to add my older iPhone backups to the device so i have all of my pictures from all of my smartphones, but not clogging up my phones hard drive…
