Absolute rubbish; drops network all the time, so is unreliable as a phone. It’s fine if you want a small, slow internet connection in your hand.
Motorola customer service is very poor – i was told to take it to one of their service centers. I did so, it cost me โฌ15 to get them to fix it quick (its my only phone), and when it was returned they told me that they’d just updated the software. which i could have done myself. and it didn’t fix the problem. they still haven’t offered me a solution.
i will never buy another motorola product again.

A fabulous android phone without all the bloatwear. It fits nicely in the hand while still being big enough to use easily. The camera works well and takes decent quality photos except in the dark which is when the quality lacks. Sound is great with nice bass and treble which comes across well when listening to music. All in all a great phone for the price. I would recommend.

So I initially bought the Moto G6 Play Dual Sim phone for work and private numbers but it was awful for losing the internet connection, no matter where you were or what network you had. Aside from that the phone itself was amazing. It had a great size screen and clarity for internet use and the battery life was the best I’ve come across but obviously I couldn’t keep a phone like that so I contacted Amazon and requested a refund. They were so easy to deal with. They processed the refund straight away and I ordered the Moto G6 Play Single Sim phone as all the forums stated the connection issue was only with the dual sim phone and I am so glad I did because I haven’t had a bit of trouble with this phone and it is a high specification for a budget price. Also looks very stylish. Would highly recommend.

Let’s get to the nub of it. This phone – the G6 Play model – has a problem ‘pre-installed’ by Motorola/Lenovo. And, to date, they have not resolved it.
A lot of unhappy people, myself among them, have found that this phone’s audio goes dead at random. The most serious result is that incoming calls do not generate a ring tone and if, like me, you don’t like to have ‘vibrate’ switched on, the first indication is ‘missed call’ in your call log.
At first, one’s reaction is that it is one’s own fault. Didn’t hear it/phone in one room, self in another …
Then you find that you have several Wazzapp voice messages which, on playback, are silent. These I blamed on finger trouble by the sender.
I had a fancy to hear a track, dialed up YouTube – video played – no audio.
Finally you twig that something’s going wrong. There were times when, on booting up, the ‘Hello Moto’ greeting failed to play. Switching off and restarting usually solved this but only for a while. At some point, with no…

Definite improvement on G4 which ran out of internal storage. Considered G6 Plus and G6 but prefer longer battery life (up to 2 days) and micro USB (not C) connector. Only crticism is tinny sound compared to G4, which I’m guessing is due to the acoustics of the case rather than the speaker. Still enjoying the lack of bloatware.
Update 1/8: reduced to 4 stars due to poor sound/signal quality on bluetooth speaker, which I used a lot with G4. This would be less of a problem if the internal speaker was better quality. Otherwise, still a very good phone, and possibly the best for the price.

Not a review of the phone as such (my wife really liked the phone) but a warning about after sales.
Unfortunately after less than 3 months the G6 went into a never-ending looping of powering on/off. Nevermind (I thought) it was under guarantee and these things happen, so I followed instructions to send it to their (3rd party) repairers.
4 weeks later and I still have no repaired phone and no replacement phone. Excuse after excuse, promise after promise and still I have no phone. I have attempted to complain to a higher level but they refuse to provide me with contact details.
So, an OK phone but you’d better hope it doesn’t go wrong.
Based on my experience I will not buy another Motorola product.
In the meantime I wait.

I bought this phone when my 2.5 year old nexus suddenly died on me. At first I thought wow this exactly like the nexus and then I realised the difference. In less than two months the finger print sensor couldn’t sense my finger print properly. I had to delete and redo this. It still doesn’t sense my finger print after multiple attempts. The camera is ok for day to day pictures. The apps lag a little bit probably due to the slower processor speed. And at times my apps hang as well. It is a good budget phone otherwise compared to the other android phones that I have used besides my Nexus. Would recommend as a budget smart phone.
