I got this as a replacement for my Minolta DiIamge5 yes it must be like stepping from a Diesel tractor to a Ferrari.
Ok so it is the entry level but spoiled for choice and at the current price tag I could not argue, even second hand ones on EBay was more expensive than this, and I parted with the cash.

It arrived a couple of days ago and I am still setting it up, at the moment it is still driving me crazy with the nanny state it came with.
Occasionally I get black images or the camera simply will lock up when it does not like what I am doing. Whether this is something to do with the software is something yet to be discovered.

So I am no photo genius but I am sure it will take my photography to the next level. Playing with all the new features this will surely keep me happy for a few more years. Already bought a few extra lenses accessories to really put the camera through its paces and enhance the experience.

What I like is the helpful hints when it is in Nanny state But it could also…

I bought this for ยฃ349 … it’s now available at under ยฃ300. A real bargain.

This is a 24 MP camera. A genuine DSLR.

I thoroughly enjoy using this camera, and it has produced some stunning photos. I have previously worked as a professional photographer, doing model photoshoots, and in my opinion this is one of the best quality cameras that I’ve ever had.

If feels solid in-hand, and has a host of features. Easy to use, with a built-in guide if you require assistance. The VR lens it comes with is very good indeed, and an excellent piece of starting kit.

I bought this grip: XCSOURCEยฎ Vertical Battery Grip + Signal Transferring Cable for Nikon D3100 D3200 Camera LF218

This bag: DURAGADGET Nikon Rucksack – “Photo range” Rucksack / Bag / Case for Nikon Coolpix Range Inc D750, DF, D3300, D5100, P7000, D700, P500 & P300 Digital SLR Camera + BONUS Cleaning Cloth

And this lens: Nikon 20050 AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200 mm VR II Lens for Camera

For a reasonably priced DSLR, this camera is capable of…

I’m an A-Level photography student, and so needed a good camera without spending a lot of money. This camera has that, and produces amazing photographs while also being extremely easy to use. It’s a great beginner camera, it’s not perfect (the lack of AEB is one thing I’d warn anyone experienced against), but for the price it’s great. I’d consider getting another lens, such as theย

, as the zoom capability isn’t great, but for beginners it’s amazing.

Fantastic camera! I’ve had this baby for a couple of years now and love it. When I first bought it I just used the pre-programmed settings and loved the options available. However, I have learned a lot since buying it and now shoot mostly in manual mode. I’m very happy with the picture quality and accessories (such as lens, tripods, rain proof covers…..) available for it and think it will serve me well for years to come.

This is the first DSLR camera I have owned and that to NIKON. Initially I was quite overwhelmed to when I bought it, I thought DSLR cameras are too complicated for my taste, When I powered it on, it was all easy to operate. It is a brilliant camera with lots of feature that you see in very expensive modern cameras. It has very user friendly menu options and easy to operate. Can’t fault it. I am still learning the apertures, etc. and lots of other terms used in photography.
I am glad I bought this product.

Arrived well packed before expected. All paperwork appears present most in Japanese with some in English. Copy of the user instructions included in English. On switching on the camera the screen was in Japanese and required time and date to be inserted before you could access the menu functions of the camera. (this according to the instructions is the only way to change the language if the camera has been started for the first time and the Language option set to a language other than the one you want.) This camera had been started for the first time and Japanese chosen by someone but not me. Having said that the camera is new and once the language problem was sorted out all functions worked. I have only had a play with the camera but so far I have found it easy to use, in fact having used cameras for a long time – before automatic metering, auto focus and digital – I find it can make you lazy and you can still take rubbish images! (my fault not the cameras). At least you can switch…
