I purchased this to upgrade the 250GB SSD in my HP Spectre laptop. I was advised that Sabrent SSDs are really good value, at time of writing £76 is an insanely cheap price for a 500GB NVMe SSD. The SSD has only one con that I can see, it has 4k sectors, so its unlikely you will be able to clone your existing hard drive to the new one. I do however think that a reinstall is always best for a new hard drive. The Sabrent drive comes with a 5 year warranty, all you need to do is take a picture of the Serial Number before you install it, otherwise you will need to reopen your case to check this. The drive from what I can tell is based on a reference Silicon Power drive, this means that you can be sure that the drive will last. I found this drive to be faster than the Samsung SM961 that it replaces. I found it nearly as fast as the SX8500 Pro drive that I have put into my desktop.

I have got the drive bitlockered and this hasn’t reduced the performance drastically. The battery life seems…

I took a chance on this as I know the brand but never for actual storage. Other good products made me feel the risk was worth it. I’m glad I did.
I’ve owned a fair few SSDs and a few NVME drives. This NVME meets its expectations when it comes to performance. Over 3000 read speed is impressive. Windows 10 went from a usb install to on the desktop in under 15 minutes. Including updates. Windows loads in seconds. Sounds perfect. Well, it’s very good but not perfect.
When compared to a high end NVME it is not as responsive and, whilst it gets to windows quick, background apps take longer to load. I expect there is more to loading and access times than just fast read speeds.
Whilst not as good as a high end NVME (no surprise given the price) it is clearly faster than an SSD. But at nearly double to the cost of a 240GB SSD it is not twice as fast. The upgrade isn’t as noticeable, not the step up I’d expect when I hear NVME and 3000MB/s speeds.
So why 5 stars? Because it delivers on what it…

unfortunately I only used my initial buys superficially for a few weeks then stoopidly bought a slew of these which appear to be failing one after the other although not in the sequence of purchase. to me the 5 year warranty is a hoodwink along with the packaging which is an attractive tin box. Yeah you have a warranty but that does not compensate for disruption and loss of data/work. So has left a bad taste in my mouth though due to my unwarranted overly ethuastic purchases. Note too that any replacements received will also be of the same Ilk. If you go to sabrents web site, the landing page proclaims at the bottom that it is a usa company but that is of no assurance of quality.
although these are priced attractively you need not purchase from double costed bigger players as I have other similarly priced ssds bought at the same time that are still operational. But as always Caveat Emptor, do not be unduly swayed by long warranties and influenced by packaging as these are designed…

Was a bit worried about buying this brand as it was a bit cheaper then the rest and I wasn’t sure if it would perform like a Samsung drive but I’m very surprised. This drive is really fast. As you can see from the image its read and write speeds are great. Just remember you need to find the little screw to hold it down as it doesn’t come with one.
