I decided to get an extra monitor for my MacBook after working from home for a year. I looked at lots of possible monitors but decided to get a Samsung.

Samsung or LG are known for the quality of build and I would consider either but in the end I got this monitor to help.

What I like about this monitor is the resolution and screen space. I am able to view multiple documents on the extra screen if needed and also use it as the main monitor when I close the MacBook. I use this extra monitor for multiple reasons: video editing, blogging, creating documents or just watching movies.

The only downside is that the audio is not transmitted to the monitor from my MacBook. If this were possible I would be ultra happy.

I have not had the opportunity to try out this monitor for gaming but I would assume that it would be very good. I’m hoping to get an Xbox soon and it would be nice to see how it responds.

Nevertheless this is well worth considering getting if you are able to afford the monitor for…

Very happy with this monitor. Using it both for work and editing photographs. Good colours and not overwhelmingly large. The multiple inputs are useful – I use the Display Port for the desktop as it never moves, and an HDMI for connecting a laptop.
The only slightly annoying thing is it doesn’t automatically wake-up when you turn a machine on – a blue light flashes and you have to use the little joystick toggle at the back to turn it on.

I liked the idea of having this monitor BUT:
I’ve tried every setting to get this to produce a reliable viewing screen but even the desktops changes each time I switch the computer off and back on again ! View emails is impossible because their content is so small & I’m having to resize my Excel Spreadsheets almost every time I open them! Moreover it doesn’t appear to play Streaming 4K movies, which I now find mentioned in other reviews.

I’m now back on my original Monitor, fortunately Amazon will accept a Return with the original Box modified because I couldn’t get the vertical section of the stand out of the back of the monitor.

Really pleased with this purchase. After a year of working from home on just the 15″ MacBook Pro screen as a web designer, I’ve no idea how I ever coped without this extra screen!

28″ is a perfect size for my line of work and having the space to move around, design and have multiple windows open as I go along my day.

Being a designer, this is the most important for me.

Now, I originally used a thunderbolt USB-C to HDMI adapter (Provided by my workplace) which i’m convinced wasn’t an official Apple adapter to start with and just a cheap-buy. With this adapter I wasn’t getting anywhere near the quality I expected from the screen considering it is a 4K one, and I had to play with the contrast and brightness on the screen a bit to make sure I got the right colours. This just wasn’t working for me, but I was convinced it was an issue with the adapter and not the screen, which it was!

I purchased a High speed USB-C to HDMI adapter from Amazon anyway, which had great reviews…

I work on complex systems and like to have a lot of info readily available to me on screen – I bought one of these to see how I got on with the curve – previously, I’d used a flat panel but found that panning my head meant change in focus – I could blame my aging, stiffening eyes and maybe the shape of my reading glasses – but the curve of these panels makes using them a sheer joy for me. The 90° rotation on the PSU plug is a sweet feature which I could see helping some people aesthetically and practically.
    There is a down side…
    1) The stands are awful!
The plastic cable covers are awful! With the supplied power and HDMI cables plus a thin DisplayPort cable, fitting it was incredibly fiddly and I’ve left it off.
    2) They have a fixed height – I have a long body and will need to raise them but they’re not suited to balancing on something as they spread their load over three points. I’d opt for a VESA mount screwed to the rear edge of my desk but these monitors have no VESA mount! No -…

I have been working as a designer from home for many months and decided I needed a second screen to connect to my MacBook Pro. I chose Samsung as they are always excellent value for money. I now have 400% more screen space.

The monitor worked straight out of the box. I chose to connect via a USB-C to HDMI A (SYNCWIRE – 4K@60Hz) connector and very happy with the results.

As others have pointed out, audio is not transferred from my MacBook Pro to the monitor, but I have separate speakers connected via my 35mm port on my Mac, so this was not a serious issue.

    I have only two complaints:
    1. the scrolling and movement of my Bluetooth mouse on the monitor so far. Still quite jittery (bad for gaming), (only 60Hz) but could also be a combined issue with my Apple Magic Mouse. New hi-res mouse arriving tomorrow…
    2. The screen angle cannot be adjusted. Currently pointing too low. If this could have been adjusted, I would have rated this product 5 stars.

A good monitor but be prepared for a couple of things…first off, mine (and seemingly many others) comes supplied with a European plug, not a UK one, so either be prepared to order one separately (about £10 on Amazon) or be prepared to spend a long time arguing with customer services until they agree to supply one (the route I took!!). Also, there are two hdmi ports on this monitor – one runs with a 60mhz refresh rate, the other is only 30 so make sure you plug into the right one. The manual is verily clear on which is which, it’s not something they’ve tried to hide.
