It worked for 1-2 weeks then corrupted my psr which no longer turns on past safe mode. It worked perfectly until I used the hard drive. It’s FALSE advertising, it is NOT compatible with ps4. Check reddit and playstation forums, I can’t even initialize the console to reset it as it malfunctions every time saying “cannot start the ps4”. I’m going to have to pay to get it fixed and / or buy a new one. Do your research and AVOID if you are using ps4. So disappointed its ruined my console and I’ve just bought Christmas presents for other people so I can’t even replace it yet. Outraged!!!

These drives are great, my second one. But if you are a Mac user you may have the same issue that I and others have had, in that the reformatting of the drive using Mac’s Disk Utility initially failed. I thought it was a faulty drive and nearly sent it back.
The issue was that after reformatting, my iMac wouldn’t recognised the drive and Time Machine also said there was not enough space on it. Yet it’s a 4TB version! I have a 3TB version I bought last year and didn’t have this problem when I set that up….for tech wizards out there this may be obvious, but for those of us who are a little more technically challenged, I hope this helps. I found this really helpful advice from an earlier reviewer:
“Important note if you intend to use this drive on a MAC.
The expansion drive was originally not recognised by my iMac (running macOS High Sierra) and could not be reformatted using Disk Utility either so I thought it was faulty….
However a quick call with Seagate Support revealed that my…

I buy I lot of this class of drive (3.5 inch, powered, USB3) for a backup system I run. I’ve recently switched to Seagate because Buffalo seem to have been low on stock but I won’t be buying more Seagates because I’ve noticed how incredibly slow the Seagate drives are. I’ve had to do a lot of drive copying in last few weeks and it looks like the Seagates take about 3 times the time used by Buffalos (both USB3 and similar data quantity/file structures). It also explains some other slowness I saw a few weeks back that I didn’t realize was due to drive speed.

Out of all the manufactures of external Hard Drives I have used over the years, Seagate for me is the most reliable. Reliability is the most important fact for me in my line of work. I need to save evidence, videos, photos and other data for many years, it all depends on the Law specification.
This is my 4th Expansion 4 TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive but I have 7 more ranging between 1TB and 5TB capacity. The first I purchased in 2007 and have never looked back. All are going strong.
As the listing shows you can use them vertical as in the picture or you can place in horizontal. It all depends on the location, room available or just your choice. I have mine both ways according to the space available on my shelves. They are fast, quiet and reliable oh, and very reasonably priced.
Any questions drop me a line.

Broken within the first 30 minutes of use. Good packaging. Easy install – just plug and play on my Windows 10 computer. Quick to save some personal files. I decide to safely eject the drive and store it away in its original box for safe keeping – but on gently attempting to remove the USB cable from the point where it attaches to the drive, I hear a snap and out comes the cable housing, completely separated from the circuit board. If this is what happens to a part of the drive which will be subject to removal/insertion quite a few times throughout the product’s life, I’d hate to think how well the rest of the drive is constructed. Safe to say that I shall not be trusting my valuable files to another Seagate device.
