Brilliant piece of kit bought as an upgrade for my XZ2 premium and had not disappointed. Was initially concerned about the size, but actually feels more comfortable in my hands than the old one. Display is top notch, too! Battery life is leaps ahead, as well, charge easily lasting a full days use and more. Love it

Sony has been a step behind in its product launching and keeping ups with competition, but this phone really makes up for the lost time and credibility. I have been using this as my primary phone and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 as my secondary one. This alone says a lot. The snapdragon 855 works seamlessly, the screen is by far the best is have seen in a phone, the battery life is impressive and the 21/9 ratio fits perfectly in my hand. Have nothing bad to say about this phone. Well done Sony

Best phone Sony ever made, feels small in the hand but still has an amazingly large screen. And the tall ratio is great for video or multi tasking. Actually writing this review in the Amazon app with a YouTube video playing above it in split screen while sitting outside in the sun!

Screen easy to see outside even with polarised sunglasses (both portrait and landscape). Good brightness in auto mode.

Performance is what you expect from a flagship, it’s smooth and snappy. Clean skin, almost like stock android on a pixel with only small Sony add-ons.

Camera is finally amazing, also have an iPhone Xs and Samsung S10 and this has better dynamic range and natural colours. And the wide angle is miles ahead of the S10, much much sharper.

    All and all, highly recommend!

The only downside to this phone is that it appears my finger prints are hard to read. Had a similar experience in police custody when they took my prints and dna. Aquitted btw. No case to answer.

This is Sony’s 2019 flagship, and it dares to be different. Not everything’s perfect, but enough is to give it four stars. There’s a few drawbacks though, that could have been overcome to give it five stars.

As you can see in the photos, I’m comparing it with my previous phone, the Moto G4 plus which I bought in November 2016, i.e. two and a half years ago. At the time it was considered the best value mid-range smartphone.

So it’s quite a jump to the Experia 1, currently at five times what I paid for the Motorola.

As you can see in the photos, it’s actually slightly narrower than the Moto, despite the screen being an inch greater (across the diagonal). That’s because the aspect ratio is very different, the Experia 1 being 21:9 against the Moto’s 16:9. That means the Experia 1 is very tall – which is the first impression one gets of the phone – extraordinarily tall. Scrolling through lists of emails, Facebook updates and other notifications sometimes feels too much. However, it really…

I wasn’t sure about the 21:9 screen when I ordered the phone but now I have used it I really appreciate the form factor. The phone is high quality and I am very pleased.

The purple colour is really really nice.

If you buy this phone you will need to buy a case as it is very slippery (and lovely).

The speakers are not quite as good as my old Sony XZ premium, but overall that is the only fault I can find.

I am very pleased with my new phone.

I am a Sony fan so I might be biased but this is just a brilliant phone. Crisp clear image, very high brightness, the camera with it’s various functions is clearly a Sony camera, ppl who have used them before will know. Also very loud on max settings. I have owned a Sony-Erricson k810i and a Sony Xperia Z2 before this. They are both still functional so here’s hoping they made another sturdy one. The only downside I see right now after a few months use is the battery life but with such a huge screen I guess that’s to be expected…..and oh my God what a screen. I am in love. I have always liked the simplicity in both design and menu of older Sony phones. I gound I disliked the design of most models after the Z2 but the elegant, simple, monolith look is back and it’s great. The menu is a bit more complicated but it’s to be expected since technology advances. Definitely better than any Samsung menu. Also fingerprint reader does have it’s misses but quite rare, I would say maybe 3%. All…

Decided to go for this phone after a long deliberation and I’m pleased I did. It’s a great looking phone and the software is fast. The video quality is superb too. It’s a long phone but narrower than other phones which makes it easier to hold. I highly recommend this phone
