Dr. N. Rust –
I’m not sure if I was just sent a faulty phone from Prime Logistics or whether all Sony Xperia phones are like this. However, the one I was sent heated up with minimal usage (e.g. checking emails) to the point that it was hot to hold in the hand. Likely because of this heating problem, the battery life was appauling – it barely lasted 12 hours with very occasional usage. I sent the phone back because of these problems.

Good battery life and seems resistant to water but the camera is awful and it looks quite a lot like a brick. Is not a modern looking or behaving phone so if you are looking for that buy something else. I bought it solely because it was waterproof and I need that for a lot of the stuff I do.

For me, I don’t want a big screen, I want a pocketable smart phone with the specs of the top models. The Xperia Z5 Compact is pretty much just that. This Z5 Compact replaced my Z1 Compact so I’m sold on how great this range is. Why?
– Great size, fits in pockets with ease, and can be used with one hand.
– Performance is snappy and doesn’t get bogged down with lots of apps left open.
– Camera is decent; it might have 23 megapixels, in intelligent auto, you get 20 MP (although by default it’s set to 8) but images can get noisy indoors.
– Waterproof doesn’t mean you have to go swimming with it (although I have), but even for day to day things like when my toddler grabs my phone with sticky fingers I can run it under the tap rather than getting my knickers in a knot.

This is my second Sony Z5 having puchased it when after owning my first phone for about two years it’s battery was begining to fail, lasting less than 1 hour.
I’m extremely dissatisfied with the new phone as after only two months it’s battery last less than 24 hours.
This is with moderate use & dispite me having the phone in ‘staminer’ mode.

After much searching for a small screened close-to-premium-but-not stupidly-overpriced, I settled on the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. It’s actually quite expensive directly from my network provider, but on Amazon, it’s priced much better considering it had been out on the market a good 10 months or so when I purchased it. I’ve had it just over a month now, but have only been using it about 2 weeks in total.
I love the pink colour. I am not a particularly girly girl, but I didn’t want a boring black phone – it was white or silver for me, so the pink was a compromise even though I tried really hard to find the lime version at a decent price, but unfortunately, to no avail! I settled for pink (coral).
I upgraded from a HTC One Mini, which was about 2 and a half years old and I was getting to the point of not being able to install new apps or constantly trying to remove apps to increase its usability, plus the battery didn’t last the day towards the end… I really didn’t want to upgrade to a…

It was a great phone in size and shape as I wanted a smart small phone that I could carry around in my pocket – and it was just that. But I could not use it because (i) the proximity sensor turns the screen off but does not turn it back on again when not in proximity making totally useless, (ii) it was not adapting to the mobile data but worked with SIM, meaning I could make calls but could not roam on mobile data, although wifi was fine. Other issues (iii) Viber and whatsapp did not work properly, (iv) recipinet could hear echoes on his/her side when on Viber or Whatsapp. These problems did not correct when I reset the phone on Sony instructions. When nothing worked Sony told me that they will not support the phone anymore although it was brand new. So I had to return the phone to Amazon. A pity – could have been a great phone!

Charged phone for an hour, phone was then very hot, had already read a ny negatibe reviews regarding the ohobe overheating, most were from 2015, would have thought the problem had been fixed by now, assume this phone is 2015 stock, will be returning

Ideal buy if you want a good camera and a good looking phone at a reasonably price. It is now getting onto two years old so there may be better and more efficient phones on the market.
I have used to the same phone for coming up to two years and it still runs quickly. The one downside however is the integral battery that can’t be replaced. My phone is lucky if it lasts a day with normal daily usage.
