I have had a B&D driver for years and used it hundreds of times, when it eventually died I got this drill/driver and it is so much better, it holds any driver bits and drill bits , changing from driver to drill is fast and easy, only criticism is “it’s just a tad top heavy” unless it’s standing on the flat it tends to fall over. Other than that, it’s not worth the £100 or the discount price of £79 but for the special offer of £35 it’s a real bargain

received this drill well packaged & delivered in good time. However when I took the drill on a job the battery charge lasted 2 seconds. The green light shows the battery is fully charged but the battery is dead. I have been unable to contact Amazon on my order account. It seems I will have to contact TERRATEK about the guarantee. I`m disappointed with this product

    Very good deal. Definitely recommend

    Pros:
    – brings 120 pieces for all the DIY jobs
    – Can be used as a stew driver or as driller
    – feels solid in the hand and is very comfortable
    – cordless
    – has a light, so we can use in dark places
    – has a spirit level so the holes will be perfect aligned

    No cons

A reasonable product for the money (under £27) just don’t expect it to be as good as a well known brand. It does have a good, comfortable, soft grip handle It says it’s a cordless drill and it does have a drill setting (but not a hammer drill setting) so don’t expect too much from it. This product is much better suited to being used as an electric screwdriver than a drill. In my opinion It will be ok if you want to drill through plastic or even soft wood. My current drill was 18v before it broke and it seemed a good bit more powerful than this one, saying that my last one was a fair bit more expensive than £27 so you do need to balance these things up. All in all no complaint’s but I always end my reviews with a, would I recommended it? Well yes and no hence my 3 star rating. It just lacks a bit of power even although it is listed as 18v so yes as a cordless screwdriver, no as a drill, I would buy something a bit more substantial if I was going to be drilling through masonry or metal.

For some design reason when you use this drill with a 10mm bit (the largest it can take) doing so will cause a malfunction in the chuck mechanism. This has happened on BOTH the drills I’ve had of the same model. Foolishly I though the 1st one was just a one-off. Nope, the same thing has happened with the 2nd. Unfortunately the 1st failed outside of any return period. This second one has lasted only a few months since buying it.

I can’t explain exactly what the problem is, just that it has to do with opening up the drill wide enough to take a 10mm diameter bit. Doing this evidently takes the mechanism past some ‘ideal’ operating range and causes the chuck first to ‘lock’ open, then when you try to hold the chuck and overide it (with some grippers or a vice) it results in the whole unit winding itself out of the end of the drill.

Anyway, fine up to BUT NOT INCLUDING a 10mm diameter bit. Just don’t go there. It’s cost me £70 to find that out.

It is ideal for me as I am having to do most jobs myself now as hubby is very ill, I have arthritis in my fingers and wrist it is ideal for me to handle and to do my little jobs .

Strong and quiet little drill. Suitable for a young woman to use but strong enough for any DIY projects.

Beware that whilst it is suitable for drilling holes in walls, the kit does not include the suitable bits for this, but only for wood and metal. You can purchase the suitable ones in any DIY shop in UK however for about a fiver or so.

Having been a boat builder and carpenter in the past… Having owned some serious pieces of kit. My last drill driver set was a 18v Dewalt set that cost around £400.

It’s tough to know what to spend on stuff like this if you aren’t accustomed to using kit like this day to day….
In short; If you are going to be building and fitting houses or boats 5 days a week for the next 10 years, Go and buy a Makita/Bosch drill driver.
If you’re like me and don’t plan on doing much more than fixing the odd loose draw face or wardrobe door frame, maybe hang a large painting from some brick work in your living room. Buy this
