Clear easy to read dial, with back light. has a sweep second hand. Manual setting so setting the time is easy. But there were no user instructions included. I had to go onto Timex website ‘Contact Us’ for Live Chat assistance. The guy was very helpful and “talked” me through how to set the date. Once done and checked the next day, all is OK – the hour hand passing by “12” the second time around advances the date – this also means manually resetting the date with each less than 31 day months, twice annual clock change for GMT/British Summer Time. Otherwise, a not too expensive watch that so far seems to keep good time. I liked the military colour of the fabric strap but here it is my beef: The strap end is not angled, or rounded and so, being square, presents some difficulty in inserting the strap through the retaining loop.

This watch was bought for work, having had one previously and knew it to be a decent watch. Its sturdy enough and not too bulky with a nice bright illuminated screen for those of us who work at night. This generation doesn’t feel as sturdy as past incarnations but that probably more to do with a change in build materials rather than a change in the actual quality. My last one of these lasted me over 10 years and I then changed for a Timex marathon but the rubber strap on that failed in under 12 months. Stick to what you know and the Expedition is a quality at a decent price (which fluctuates between £25-£35). Its on the small side so if your arm can carry off a G-Shock with ease this will look a bit tiny on you!

This is the 3rd Timex Expedition watch I have bought as I love them. My first was a ladies size but I’ve never been able to find one since. I have had to buy the men’s Expedition watch. I love that it has a backlight which is great in the dark. I would have bought the white face watch but it was so much more expensive than the black face watch. This black face isn’t as easy for me to see, so I prefer a white face. It keeps good time and I’ve yet to see if it is waterproof.

I like walking and climbing, and I work up a bit of a sweat doing so. This did not do my previous, leather-strapped watch any good, and the whole strap fell apart (curiously around the time the battery died). I needed a new watch, quickly. The nylon strap of this time watch appealed, and the muted colour scheme looks smart. It doesn’t even look that cheap really.
There are a few things to be aware of though. The nylon strap is initially VERY sharp on the edges, and was uncomfortable to wear for about a week (it smoothed out after that). The ticking is really quite loud! I can’t leave this watch on my bedside table at night. The light on the watch isn’t correctly aligned with the watch face, and a small sliver at the bottom of the face is unlit. Not a deal breaker, but that does make it look cheap when lit.
The watch seems solid, and has dealt well with rocks and rain so far!

Good watch, lightweight but seems good quality.
The Indiglo feature is great, but I have a “dead” spot at the bottom, after a Google, it seems alot of Indiglo watches have this. (Hence 4 stars not 5)
Amazon offered a replacement, but it doesn’t bother me that much, so declined their offer.
The strap is comfortable and fits well. The only thing I will be doing is adding a screen protector as it looks like the screen could scratch easily.

This is a great work watch although I use it attached to my shirt and not worn on my wrist, as my job requires me to be bare below the elbow. The best bit about the watch is the price it’s cheap. The light isn’t the best but I can live with that. It appears to keep good time, seems to be waterproof or at least water resistant, have worn it in all conditions but not swimming and I can see the second hand no problem, essential for me. I would definitely buy another as a replacement and have been considering getting another as a spare.

Since I had my first Timex watch at age 7, I have always admired the brand despite having several expensive watches. Timex watches are robust, reliable and accurate. I purchased this one to replace a Timex Explorer watch that I have owned since the late 1990s. This new watch meets expectations, is easy to read and the Indiglo back light works well. I highly recommend this watch for outdoor use such as trecking and camping. I have not taken it into the sea yet so cannot comment on it’s waterproof functionality. A great all round watch for a competitive price and an ideal Christmas present.

So, I bought my husband a Timex watch for Christmas at his request. We sent it back shortly after, as it was losing time. (It had “lost” 5 seconds in the first week!). He’s very particular about his watch being correct, he sets it by the BT speaking clock, and checks it once a month or so for his other watch (a Sekonda) and that keeps perfect time.
This was the second Timex watch we ordered, to replace the one we had sent back, and this also is losing seconds frequently. (By losing, I mean it doesnt keep as good a time as others, it obviously ticks at a slower rate over a period of time). He’s not happy with it because of the inaccuracy, but we have had it too long to return it now (because of the COVID-19 situation and work) so it’s currently an unused ornament on our mantelpiece…
So to sum up, if you’re not bothered about it keeping absolute perfect time, then it’s a good, sturdy, easy to read watch, BUT if you (or the man in your life) is a little bit particular about it being…
