Internet Wi-Fi in your pocket. Great to have so my grandsons are kept entertained on their tablets whenever they are in my car or out and about with their mom.

I bought this to provide a wifi hotspot in the car so that the dashcam parking mode had an internet connection to notify me in event of an impact, but sadly the battery only lasts about 8 hours so it won’t work for me. As a hotstpot in general though, it’s excellent and very easy to set up. The battery life is the norm and if you want more you’ll have to spend significantly more money.
In summary, a good unit and just not suitable for my specific purpose.
UPDATE: I forked out for a power bank to connect to this and now I have a hotspot in the car that lasts for almost 10 days and the peace of mind I was looking for. Or I would have if it didn’t keep disconnecting client devices after a few minutes of inactivity! No matter what settings I used to counter this, it still kept happening and rather than go through the hassle of contacting technical support and working on it, I had regretfully to return it for a refund, and set about trying something else. Good little unit, just not…

Works well. Had coverage drop out at times but unsure if mobile chip related. Good battery life. A good buy

This 4G mifi device is ideal for travelling, especially as a couple or family with several devices, and you want to avoid horrendous roaming data rates. It’s very pocketable and portable and of sturdy construction.

It takes a full sized SIM card (adaptors are included). Just get a local SIM card for the country you’re travelling to (or one with good rates there), make sure it’s activated (if the mobile network activation requires making a phone call, you will need to do this with another phone first as this device can’t make voice calls), connect to the WiFi access point with the details on the sticker and you’re ready to go.

The TPMiFi app is pretty good – which you can use when you’re connected to the device. It’s pretty modern design and easy enough to use (though some of the features might a bit hidden ). You can throttle individual devices which might be handy to ensure little Jonny doesn’t use all of your data by watching hundreds of slightly different 4K baby shark remixes….

It works well, but the settings screen could be brighter and clearer.

Customer support was excellent but I had to keep logging in every time it wasn’t in use for an hour or so.

The good thing is that, well, it works. I got an iD Mobile SIM, it worked ok with the TP. I have used it in hotels, on travel, in conferences etc. It needs a USB socket for power, I’d rather it has its own power plug. Another thing is that the display stays on for about 20 seconds; every little you got to touch the button to get the display. There is no indication that the device is on. So it’s so easy to forget that it is still on, when you mean to turn it off. Where there is no traffic through it, I think it will power itself off after some duration. Haven’t tested that enough to be sure.

There is an app for the TP; it gives a better interface, but does not much more beyond what functions are available on the interface on the TP.

There is an interesting thing, a good thing, which is that if you plug the USB cable in to your computer, it will be recognised on the computer as a LAN connection, plus you can still connect to TP on wifi. The LAN is better than WIFI on reliability and…
