Right my situation is I have a mancave 120ft away from my router at the end of the garden and could get netflix or amazon prime via WiFi as distance was to far even for a wifi extender.
Powerline adapters work via your electrical wiring and say both devices that you plug into the power must be on the same curcuit.
Here lies some confusion as houses have many curcuits such as downstairs power socket ring mains , upstairs socket ring mains, individual out building cuircuits etc..
So heres what I have below and it worked instantly !
The man cave armoured power cable comes from my consumer unit on its own 32amp mcb switch breaker .
In the cave the cable terminates into a small outbuilding consumer unit with 2 mcb’s one for lighting and 1 for power ring cuircuits . I plugged one powerline adapter into a plug socket near the TV and connected the ethernet cable to the tv.
In the house our router is in a front room on the ground floor power socket ring main wich again goes back to the consumer…

My son constantly complained about the broadband speed when gaming with his friends online. This was very frustrating as I have one of the fastest broadband packages you can get. After speaking to our service provider they suggested trying to hardwired items like gaming computers and consoles that require super fast connection speeds for streaming gaming and movies.
Having read multiple reviews on all the available adapters I decided to give these TP-Line adapters a go.
Setting up is very straight forward. Do the following: –
Plug in both adapters to sockets close to each other (to start with)
Press the pair button on one of the adapters for 1 second. The green LED indicator starts flashing
Next, within 2 minutes press the pair button on the 2nd adapter. The green LED indicator starts flashing on this too.
When both LED’s on both adapters stop flashing the units are paired. (This can take up to 2 minutes)
After the units have paired: –
Plug in one of the adapters by your internet router…

I originally had the TP-Link TL-WN881ND 300Mbps wifi card for over a year, but I was finding my download speed quite slow, especially when it came to Steam. I noticed it even more recently when I was trying to download Apex Legends on Steam as it took me 2 nights to download (when everyone was asleep and not using the internet). For context, my office/gaming computer is upstairs and probably the furthest room from the router which is in the living room.
My boyfriend recommended a powerline adapter instead of a wifi card because it works like a normal ethernet cable. You may lose a tiny bit of speed because it needs to run through the adapter, but you’re still going to have better speeds. His computer is pretty much next to our router, so he has a direct ethernet cable running to it, so his speeds will always be slightly better than mine.
What’s in the box:
-x2 TP-Link TL-PA4010PKIT 600 passthrough powerline adapters
-x2 CAT 5 ethernet cables
