This really IS ‘plug & play’ ! On my Windows 10 PC, I plugged this gizmo into a USB port, unplugged the ethernet cable from it’s current socket, and plugged it into the gizmo. Reassuring LED’s flashed, and the internet was on again ! Just the same speed as the internal ethernet card – 71 mBps. Absolutely excellent. Now off to try it on my friend’s new laptop, which doesn’t have an ethernet card at all – hence the purchase. Just hope it works – I’ll report back.

This item matches a previous one from UNI I bought so I had no hesitation in purchasing it. Nice looking product, doesn’t seem like it will break. Connects an ethernet cable to my MacBook Pro without any problems and has two lights to indicate if data is correctly flowing.
I didn’t give it the full 5 stars as the item does get quite warm when in use. It doesn’t overheat and length of time in use does not mean it gets hotter and hotter. It does, however, feel more than ‘warm’ in your hand.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the product though.
Hope this helps everyone.

Bought this to allow me to work from home. I have Dell Latitude 7400 which has no inbuilt LAN port. This allowed me to simply plug and play straight from the box and I now have a much better and faster internet connection. I Connected this through my TP link powerline adapter and it works perfectly with this . In terms of quality this has a lovely sleek slim design with a metallic casing making it look.very premium indeed. Overall very impressed with this bit of lot and would definitely recommend.

Wi fi signal in our garage is intermittent but my Mac book 2015 model does not have an ethernet port. This connector solves that problem and is half the price of the Apple one. I ordered the wrong product first as I did not notice the fact that my Mac has different features to later models. However it was easy to return and get a refund. I was also directed to the product which would fit my lap top. So excellent customer service.

I’ve got a couple of other USB ethernet adapters and this is absolutely up there with the best of them.
I’ve got a MacBook Pro 2016 and it worked straight out of the box no drivers.
The build quality is very good – the main body of the dongle is metal and feels very solid, with a braided USB cable of a good length (must be 6 inches I guess)
As I always do, I did a quick performance test – to a server on my LAN that has a 10gbE connection. I was able to fully saturate a the 1gb connection (941Mbits/sec tcp as recorded by iperf3).
For those interested the device identifies as having a Realtek chipset (Product 0x8153, Vendor 0x0bda)
This is my third uni accessories device, and I have to say they are rapidly becoming one of my favourite vendors

Have a HP Envy laptop with a failing Ethernet socket which kept on cutting out so thought I’d try this gadget to save the expense of buying another laptop especially as wifi is option is useless. Very, happy with purchase. Just plugged the unit into a USB3.0 port and instant connection. Automatically identified with Windows 10 and no further action necessary. Compared download and upload internet speeds between ethernet port and this adapter and no difference!! The plastic case feels slightly warm when in use but nothing to worry about, only warms slightly. I’ve had USB cards run much hotter than this device gets. Nice quality look and feel to this product. Cable is corded so it doesn’t look like it’s going to break in a hurry. Looks good and works well.

The product works great. There was no need to download drivers or any software. However, i had to do lots of research to figure out how to actually use it with MacBook Air.
The MacBook didnโt seem to recognise the product when I went onto Network settings, however, after researching, found that I just had to click the + button and then use the drop down button to change from โautomaticโ to โUSB 10/100/1000 LANโ. Once Iโd figured this out the product has been perfect.

I am starting to buy a lot more products from the UNI brand – they are good value for money, generally a lot cheaper than the major brands and they tend to have good quality chips / controllers built in. The customer service people are friendly plus all the products I’ve bought from them come with lifetime warranty like the major brands so why pay more? Saying that it is always wise to check out the quality of electronic products, but UNI seem to be doing the right things with quality control as far as I can see.
I ran the device on Windows 10 on two different ASUS computers and works straight out of the box / plug and play… (It’s always a good idea to check for driver updates for the device using Windows Update or Device Manager.).. I made a point to do that and Windows provided an updated driver so it was worth doing.
It runs on Realtek USB GbE Family Controller – I have always found Realtek to be very reliable and good quality.
The device definitely works at 1Gbps speed allowance…
