Fast. Efficient printer. Note to all. Set up printer as a network printer, this is the only way to get full access the proper printer settings. If confused follow youtube. Simple and easy. I think it’s a great product. I will update after 3months use. It scans, prints and copies. Unfortunately it wont make me a coffee? Lol.

My needs were simple:
1. Monochrome laser prints at a reasonable speed. (Does this OK)
2. Scanning documents which usually would be double sided. (NOT ok)
Point number 2 was where this printer fell short because although I understood that the automatic feeder can’t do automatic double sided scanning, I expected manual duplex scanning capability meaning that you pass the document through the scanner and then being asked by the machine to turn the document over and feed it back through the feeder and then to have the software on the machine combine it all together to create a double sided document. This rather basic software feature is not included which makes double sided scanning so cumbersome, I would rather drive in to the office to do it. Major fail in my opinion as it would be such an easy thing to add. If document scanning is not important to you, then you probably wouldn’t buy a device with an auto feeder.
One last interesting point, in selecting a replacement for this one, I…

I bought this laser printer at the beginning of lockdown as I’m working from home, and the kids need to print out their homework. As it will only be used now and then, a laser printer is a better proposition than an inkjet (whose ink will dry up between uses).
PROS:
1. Connectivity options – Ethernet, Wi-fi direct, USB and wireless. I can print (and have) from mobile phones, an android tablet and PCs. My ethernet is connected through a powerline adapter and works great.
2. Print quality – It’s good quality black and white printing. I don’t really need colour printing, if you do, look elsewhere.
3. Duplex printing – Saves paper by printing on both sides. I love how it sucks the page back in and turns it around itself.
4. Scanning and Copying – You can use it like a regular photocopier. The supplied software also has an option to scan into a book, you scan each page and it combines the scans into a single document, which is cool.
5. Noise – it’s pretty quiet. Makes a bit of noise when…

I bought a Xerox thinking that I was buying a well-supported, well documented, major brand. A printer I could trust. Whilst the printer, when it’s working, does print well, the cost of ownership as regards time spent troubleshooting / rebooting is massive.
Firstly, the printer manager is not supported on Mac OS. Really? In the 2020s? So I had to buy a windows laptop just to manage the thing.
Secondly, when the printer goes into sleep mode it will not โwake on LANโ and will freeze when the home button is pressed, so it has to be rebooted at every print job.
All went as above for a few months until BT changed my broadband router. Picking up a new network from the printer was all but impossible. The screen is so small and badly designed (see the picture) that when trying to put in the network password, it is impossible to only hit one button at a time. As my fingers are smaller than 4mm in diameter, I tried to use a rubber tipped stylus. That just didnโt work. That, coupled with the fact…
