Some reviews seem to be for a router. This review is for the ZTE MF833U1 Cat4 USB Dongle. It works but I can’t read any text messages on the home screen like I could on my Huawei. I click on SMS but IT WON’T LOAD THE MESSAGES. This is a problem as sometimes my data provider sends a code number to allow me access to my account. I am back on my old 3G Huawei until a 4G I’ve ordered arrives.
This seems to be a problem with ZTE, some people recommend putting your sim in a phone and reading then deleting the texts. I’ve tried this but the messages wouldn’t display on the phone.

Handy size, I found a European data sim card that worked well. No losing signal strength at peek times. The UK card that I activated appeared to work until I got to Europe then the technical department instructions let me down as they always refer to the ” mobile phone” open setting etc. Even though I told them it was a personal WiFi.

The summary first; if you’re away from home and need a non-demanding quick internet solution that won’t break the bank, this combined with the included Smarty sim-card will do the trick. Just be aware that the battery life isn’t amazing (six hours in my experience out of the box) and the device sometimes needs restarting to perform optimally.
Now to the longer breakdown. I needed an internet solution that I could move around with me from place to place, and after looking around I landed on the ZTE Mobile Hotspot. 4G was a worry, but 5G models were far too cost prohibitive to consider at the time of writing. However, with a sim that allows tethering like the Smarty one included, you may be able to use a modern smart phone to fulfill the same functions (if not better) than the ZTE.
A few reviews I looked at claimed the setup was confusing, but I found it was simple if you followed the instructions – sometimes very literally. An example of this was the sim card itself; the diagram in…

Bought this for my house as i was going to be without broadband for a while. I’ve had no problems with it, just make sure you are on the best network in your area (check cell mapper for the nearest cell towers) and this little gadget will easily keep your house running…. I did use the smarty sim at first although switched to asda mobile but whatever network you use hou can find unlimited data for no more than about ยฃ24. Only one limitation is the 10 devices limitation which these days is not enough however for this period I just connected the essentials.
Overall was very pleased with how this device performed regularly kicking out 30mbps to all my devices which is certainly adequate for normal broadband!

I tried this Product after using Huwei, Tenda and TP link Profucts cat4/4G/LTE this morning.
I so impress with its speed it can give. I have a three days sim and I achieved an amazing nearly 64 mbps download speed which I was missing.
So far seem less connectivity. No drops of calls/ Voice/ picture when connected to work laptop on MS teams. Others gave me trouble and with Huwei I couldnโt connect to MS TEAMS.
Impressive user interfaces including Reset and WPS button outside so donโt have to open the cover and take battery out.
I reckon great product in its category and price range.
I was considering an expensive cat 11 product from TO LINK which is priced arround ยฃ150, if this didnโt work.
2. Unlocked to all networks, do you donโt have to stick with the promotional / complementary sim provided.
3. Battery and back cover is fixed. Which is great asthetic in my opinion as you are saved with opening the cover over and over as the case has been when connection used to drop with other devices…
