I bought this router following some research into a problem with an EE provided router and SIM, that EE were no use in resolving whatsoever. The house in question is located in an are where the signal is not great but the router could not get a connection at all, nothing. However iphones are able to get a good 4G connection with decent download speeds using the SIM provided with the router. Long story short, it turns out many 4G routers lag iphones in radio technology and ability to stitch together a signal. There is a CAT system out there, where Cat 6 (300Mbps) seems to be the standard most providers ship, assuming the reception is good and that presumably works in those cases. However iPhones these days are at least CAT 12 in the radio technology (600Mbps roughly). I bought this router as it was published as CAT 12 in the last hope it would resolve the connection issues, which it duly did. Instantly worked and obtained a full connection and 9Mbps download/ 3Mbps connection on a…

Getting superb speeds from 5g. Simply put a simcard in, fired it up, put in password and its works well. I am happy.

So easy to set-up.
I purchased this for my mother and set it up for her too. It took three or four minutes.
This replaced her old Huawei Cat 4 B311 router, and she’s now getting four times the 4G download speed that she used to have.
No, it’s not 5G fast, but it’s fast enough for 720 TV streaming on her Roku sticks; radio on her Alexa devices; surfing the web on her tablet… My mother is very happy with it.
It’s basically 4.5G. It has four internal antennas inside which can connect up to four cell tower signals at once, and convert those four signals into one signal.
It’s possibly more technical than that, but that’s as far as I understand it. Search “LTEA”, “Cat 12 router” or “4.5G” on the web, for more info.
Very easy to set-up. You barely need to look at the set-up manual.
I only went into the router settings to manually choose the bands for her network (and switch off auto selection).
She’s using an unlimited data SIM from ID Mobile, which uses the Three Mobile network. Looking at the…

After looking for a while to buy an 5G router for home and getting scared either the huge prices or the renewed versions that were cheaper but locked on different networks I foudn this one .
It seem Zyxel realized that 599 for the same model but with Nebula license was not selling and decided to get rid of this one for 343 ยฃ.
The speeds for Vodafone reach 300Mbps down with 30Mbps up usually on the night and with 100-200Mbps during the day.
I would say acceptable enough.
The router interface has plenty of setting options but is not really user friendly .
I did try to put in in bridge mode but in the end I just renounced and plugged another router as WiFi and disabled the Zyxel WiFi because was not really reliable all the time.
The back antennas are SMA but since have none at the moment I did not tried.
The signal overall is acceptable and does seem to work with that 5G/4G aggregation.
For the price is a good buy considering all other price options currently available .

I compared this 4g unit with several other devices including the newer NR5101. I thought it would be fine as I only get 4g signal at home. Whilst itโs very very similar in appearance to the NR 5101, the performance was hugely disappointing. It works fine, with download speeds of 40-60 mb/s on both Vodafone and smarty sims, but in comparison, the NR 5101 gets 80mb/s on smarty and 250+ mb/s on Vodafone in 4g only mode. Iโm only using it in pass through mode, but I canโt recommend if download speed is one. Of your your top concerns.
The nr5101 Iโve found to be excellent. Unlike other reviewers, Iโve not found it unstable at all. I only use the built in antenna but on my window sill I get lightening 250+ mb/s download and 60+ mb/s upload on Vodafone in 4g only auto mode when in pass through mode. Itโs a bit slower with the built in Wi-Fi , but I still found the range was stronger than my ASUS Ax88u router and the signal was stable during my testing. The configuration options are pretty…
