This is one of the worst products I have bought in nearly 20 years. It is slow and crashes consistently, the SD storage drops consistently so you cannot save songs on it. Upgrading the firmware is like updating drivers on windows 98 – yes it is that pedantic. It is a real shame because this player has all the features most other players don’t and is flexible but that means nothing if it is unusable and I don’t say that lightly. When I did manage to play a song on it I have to admit the quality was excellent, but that is little conciliation when the product is so unusable. I think I must have spent 5 hours messing around with it when I finally gave up because it just kept dropping the SD storage. I searched on line and found a forum in which many people have complained about this very issue for a while now. I did try two different SD cards which work perfectly in my other android devices, one 126GB and the other 252GB, both kept un-mounting consistently whilst I was trying to…

I recently bought this to go with my Oppo PM3 headphones. Even with the standard AM1 amp module it sounds excellent. I originally Demo’d my headphones on a Naim Unitiqute and the X7 came very close to it sonically. The continuing upgrade path from Fiio for Software and new amplifiers units should make it future proof too. Loading music wasn’t a problem as I inserted the micro sd card from my old Fiio X3 and it read the files and album art perfectly. A big thumbs up from me

Brilliant player…I love it….it drives my Sennheiser HD 800’s with ease…in fact I think they are a match made in heaven!….my .average listening volume is about 70.( maximum volume of the player is 120).. so I would think it would have the power to drive most full sized headphones.. and it does sounds high end ..there is no sense that it is a portable player trying to sound like a true hi fi….it has a warm full sound with lots of detail that just lets you listen to music…the buttons and touch screen are great to use..very responsive and everything you might want to adjust is there ..the only thing I would change would be the headphone socket..it’s at the bottom of the player …I would personally prefer it on the top…Great value!

The photo on Amazon shows the am1 amp but it was not included… I’m very annoyed. Amazon are going downhill

If you don’t want to go into the price range of the Astell & Kern media players, this FiiO X7 unit is a very worthy contender and is worthy of your money. In the short time I have owned this, FiiO have been releasing regular beta versions of the firmware… and one of them upgraded the version of Android that the device runs on.
As with anything of this nature, it is not without its share of bugs. However, FiiO do listen to their community, and they are trying hard to make the FiiO X7 even better than it is now.
I use the Stellios music player and Apple Music on this device too. I connect to a Chord Mojo using a coaxial cable. I have not been able to get the “USB On-The-Go” (OTG) working as I have been having issues with finding a good quality USB OTG cable that doesn’t degrade the data transferred between the two devices.
