Before I start, a bit of history. It’s 2014.. Sony have just released the A6000 and it’s a total game changer, whilst all the other dinosaurs were making what they always had, Sony were disrupting the market with a mirror-less camera that gave top quality results in a form factor that made it far more likely you would have it with you (after all, what’s the point of a camera that’s too big and stuck at home). 5 years later, all the dinosaurs have woken up and everyone is making mirror-less designs. So here we are, time for Sony to refresh the A6000, the camera that changed it all and see what Sony have done to make a design classic even better.
Before I do that, let me answer the question for someone looking to jump in that’s never owned an older mirror-less camera, is this a good buy? Absolutely, it’s a fantastic choice, pretty much everything that made the original so great, is either still there, or vastly improved, with very little in the way of compromises.
So onto the what have…

Perfect size and I am really happy with the camera. Take some time to fully charge first but quality is really good. Came earlier than expected and overall perfect camera.

I’ve been using sony a 6000 for few years now and still love using it. When they announced a6100 with some additional features that my a6000 lacks , I thought this will definitely meet my expectation.
I bought this camera for my friend and this is going to be his first Sony mirror less.
Although a6100 closely resembles it’s brother a6000, there are so much user friendly features in the former.
These are the improvements I’ve seen with this camera which is really useful if you are a blogger or video content creator.
– capability to record 4K videos
– improved auto focusing with subject tracking
– tiltable screen
– option to plug in 3.5 mm microphone rather than depending on hot shoe.
– the boring menu system changed to a much more attractive and coloureful menu.
The downsides I experienced with this camera are
– it still lacks In body image stabilization
– although there is touch focus capability, this is limited with some functions.
Overall, it’s a great affordable mirrorless camera that is…

ย This review is mainly down to my wife as she has taken this camera under her wing for protectionโฆ However, we both enjoy photography and have both used this and compared it to our other cameras all of which are Sony.
Anyway, whatโs there not to like is the first reaction. Really.
We have recently got in to photography (probably like a lot of middle aged people) because it’s a hobby that gets you out and about, and can be quite social, but equally a bit like walking with a dog, you don’t feel odd going for a walk if you’ve got a camera in your hand. Itโs also something that as a couple we can both do and be competitive with each other on equal terms. You donโt need to be able to bench 100kg to be a good photographer thankfully.
Camera brands are quite tribal, so I do appreciate that this will not be everyone’s cup of tea, but as I am a Sony person, this is a ‘Cup’ for us. The Sony thing started way back…
