Our old Panasonic gave up the ghost so tried a Sony for a change. Super picture, easy to set up if you follow the book. But the tuner is a pain. Whichever region option I choose, it will only allow me to tune to Belmont, the weaker of the two signals we can receive here so BBC 1 picture breaks up and the only remedy is to manually replace it with the BBC East version. But worse is that HD can only be tuned from Belmont. It makes no sense. The only workaround is to use our old Panasonic HD tuner which has no problem at all finding the best quality signals. Itโs a pity because the TV is in all other respects a lovely set that would otherwise deserve 5 stars. The tuner issue may not affect other areas of the country as much but I would advise checking in a reputable shop that sells Sony before purchasing this TV.

Iโd decided to upgrade my TV 5 months ago, having enjoyed a SPNY Bravia since 2003. I imagined Iโd be able to link the new TV to my analogue sound system. But becasue SONY was more expensive I bought an LG. Over a period of several weeks, trying all sorts of sound bars, HDMI converters and hours on the phone with LG UK, it merged that there was a technical fault with the TV. Amazon very generously allowed me return the LG and I bought the SONY Bravia. After one call to SNY UK I linked my excellent WAVEMASTER sound system simply and immediately and Iโm delighted with the TVโs performance.

Giving this a 3 star rating cause I think something wrong with my set otherwise a great tv. So frustrating, kept switching off and on in HDMI format playing games. I tried all the usual settings like sleep timer, HDMI setting, everyting…but no every time I pay FIFA it switches off. Can’t keep it even though I really like it. I have the 49inch which I have yet to try as it needs a bracket, hoping its not going to be the same!

Always had Sony bravia tv’s and they have always impressed me with the overall quality and durability, a 36 inch one I bought 10 years ago is still working well in a spare bedroom.
This latest addition was easy to set up and the picture quality is great. It also works well with our old Sony sound bar so the sound is also great. Best of all this new 43 inch tv takes up less room than the old 40 inch due to the slim bezel. All in all I don’t think I could have bought better for the price I paid.

Brilliant sound quality and picture quality. You can tweak the settings too. It also has power saving modes. If you have a USB stick or drive that is larger than 32GB, you can also use this TV as a video-recorder. It also has built-in Youtube and Netflix apps. Unfortunately, I find the Youtube app very unreliable and videos often won’t play, but this might be an issue with my network router’s malware-protection rather than the TV. The user interface isn’t amazingly responsive, but it’s good enough and fairly intuitive. The interface for making and browsing recordings could be a little clearer and and more prominent.
