I bought this as a second camera and i must say if you want a simple photo solution ,this is very good ,pic quality good, zoom good and has 6 options on dial ,auto, manual(allowing you to set fstop and shutter speed), also program, scene select, panorama and movie (720).The camera takes 4 aa batteries so buy a charger an 4 quality batteries and you wont be disappointed.

I’m a compete novice. The last time I tried to take a decent photo was on a 110.
The camera was / is in excellent condition. It arrived with SD card, batteries (installed) & USB cable.
Compared to other selling sites this is a very comparable price. It’s a start of a journey.

Going to Australia in a month or so, thought I’d get a decent camera. This is basically a point and shoot but with an awesome lens and it looks good. I don’t like the mottled effect on the camera, I suppose it’s there for grip, but I can live with it. You will need rechargeable batteries unless you have money to burn buying new batteries every couple of hours. I’ve bought 3 sets so that’ll last me a good day of heavy usage. And I got the carry case that comfortably holds the camera and batteries.

This camera was purchased primarily for taking pictures of birds, plants, mammals, general nature for identification purposes. It has served that purpose very well. The camera manages just about everything, the only negative being that the autofocus can be a bit slow for flying birds. Otherwise, excellent.
However, you may see those 3 stars and wonder, “Why has this reviewer only given the product 3 stars?” Well, today, it broke. I have no idea how or why, but it did and I really need it very soon as I’m doing bird and mammal surveys in the north of Scotland. It would appear that the lens has become misaligned, as the top two corners are now rounded off, almost as if I was looking through a tunnel. Before this happened, the battery decided that it wasn’t working, despite displaying 2 full bars on the LCD display. Then I turned it on and the camera did that typical ‘broken camera’ thing where it sort of makes noises but isn’t on, and then won’t let you turn it on for a while. When it…
Not paid to give reviews so no longer doing it –
Twice this camera has let me down. Today it won’t take any photographs of the 35 WWII Dakota’s flying over my house and it packed up the night of the eclipse earlier this year.
Very disappointed considering it is made by Sony.
A very expensive paperweight.
Save your money and buy something better!

I bought this to replace my 9 year old fuji bridge camera. Sony seem to have done a great job here…
High Build Quality.
Great zoom.
Very easy to use if you are familiar with digital camera menus.
Picture quality also very good.
The sony pc software is not so brilliant but you can find so many alternatives including some great free software so no problem really!
Several things to note…
The optical image stability feature is fully automatic and there is no menu option to switch on or off.
Macro switches itself on when needed.
There is a white balance setting to be used with flash and I think it gives great results!
Sometimes shooting conditions require the camera to spend a little bit more time auto-focusing. I don’t particularly find this onerous myself. Most camera auto-focusing systems that I have used have occasional minor issues.
You should try out the focus tracking system if you buy the camera. I think it’s great for taking photos of my cat as she won’t stay still.
I use Panasonic…

Great value camera. This is a very comprehensive camera! Make no mistake this a very good camera, true Sony quality. I took a few pictures, downloaded the free camera software (very easy to do) and connected the camera to my pc. The camera and software work perfectly together, there’s even a basic editor in the software too! I want to give the camera five stars however the camera is not, not, rechargeable so it’s new batteries when needed. Top stuff for a great price.

Well, 275 reviews at the time of writing – it’s all been said. I can only add this; I bought it for photographing the kind of wildlife that creeps around in the dusk ( …& dawn, but I am never up then). After a few days learning the camera, I gave it a good test and I can tell you, it sees better in low light than I do. Great condition “as new” from Amazon warehouse, so a bargain at ยฃ94.
Update Jan 2018. Had this awhile now. Absolutely NO problems with battery life, still on originals. No problem with focus either. Used max zoom on wildcat and got sharp pics. Yes a little slow to focus, but 2 sec at most. Could be a limitation for some. Manual is not very good so time needs to spent familiarizing yourself with the controls. That is all the negative stuff I could find. Still a real bargain.
